Re: Dear Ibanez

Bikeman has a black 670DX and I believe Jono has the violet one. Again, they are EXACTLY like the 770DX but with different pickups (read: worse!). The QM pickups did match, though. 670DX is very rare.

Re: Dear Ibanez

They DO have matching pickups and a clear guard, it's exactly the same guitar, only with QM series pickups.

If I'm not mistaken, the RG6xx guitars were only intended for the European market.

Re: Dear Ibanez

They don't have matching pickups or a clear pickguard (the 670DX) , but with AANJ I bet it plays better.

Re: Dear Ibanez

I trust you. Thanks for the info! For some reason I'm always hungry for more Iba-knowledge...

Re: Dear Ibanez

Yep they did the 670DX in black - trust me

Re: Dear Ibanez

I don't think they actually did black! The 770 came in black but I haven't seen a 670. The only colours I remember are VM and LB on that model.

Re: Dear Ibanez

But they did make it in black for that "non-more-metal" vibe that we've grown so accustomed to

Re: Dear Ibanez

Yeah, the 670 is better because it has the AANJ. Only thing is they didn't make it in red.

Re: Dear Ibanez

If you don't like the prices, simply source from abroad! It's as much the UK distributer's fault as it is Ibanez's.

I personally love limited editions it allows change in the yearly line up and the release of guitars that if they weren't limited editions, wouldn't ever be released. Would you rather have 500 RG550s re-released, or none at all?

Oh and if you like the idea of the RG770DX with an AANJ, look up an RG670DX which replaced the 770.

Re: Dear Ibanez

Miserable bastards.

I just looked at the spec sheet and then look at the current "mid range" prestige line and took it from there.

I lothe "limited editions". The new DY for example, why not simply bring it back (and not stiff us in the UK while they are at it)?

When I'm a Billionaire in a few years time I'll be buying Ibanez, and you'll all be getting whatever reissues you want to buy. :P

Gudster, it will never happen for 599. The RG550 20th is 849 and the 770DX is a higher spec guitar! As I said, I paid something like 789 for my RG750 (similar spec to 770DX) 17 years ago. There is absolutely no chance of a guitar like that costing 599 almost two decades later. If there was, it'd be seriously compromised in terms of quality, and to be honest, if that happened I would rather buy an older one for far less.

I'd say the chances of Ibanez re-releasing the 770DX are zero anyway.

Re: Dear Ibanez

Oh and an RG565 Reissue would be tastey too.
