Re: What to do with my new (used) PGM?

Well I have been jamin' the last couple of nights and I have no idea if Ibanez used different basswood (Rich?) years ago or what, but this one sounds almost as nice as the 87 550 I got from Mo. It is now a keeper, but I know at some point I will pull a PG and convert it to fixed bridge.

you can replace the knife edges on an Edge. no need to replace the whole trem.

Re: What to do with my new (used) PGM?

The pic isn't coming up for some reason on my end. I've read that it apparently has either a TRS or TRS II trem. The TRS is a "decent" trem but the TRS II tends to have issues early. The TRS II block is smaller too which isn't good for sustain. All trems wear out if they are used on a regular basis -just some wear out faster than others. Vai has to have his Edge replaced a few times a year because he uses it constantly. So even a trem that some view as Holy like an Edge will wear out. If you want a hardtail, I'd just block it like someone else said. If you decide to get rid of it and the current trem has issues and the new owner likes using a trem, a Floyd Rose Pro will go in without any needed modifications. Trems, tuning keys, pots, input jacks, frets all eventually need replacing. Pickups are about the only things that get better with age on a solid body electric - obviously other than the feel of a well played guitar. So don't let a little needed maint hold you back. I'd keep it, block the trem, and replace stuff when needed. You own it right (as far as getting a good deal) - make the most of it.

I know a guy up the street from you who takes in junk guitars for free. He will even pick it up.(of course you have to throw in a little gas money).

That really is my motivation to keep it. The white has faded, it has chips, and it plays like any other wizard neck Ibanez, but it has a nice "worn in" feel. I will get a chance to spend some time with it this weekend.

Re: What to do with my new (used) PGM?

you could also do the "multiple f-hole" look. Put some different colored f-hole decals all over it in different directions....

PGM3s came with the Lo TRS, and that is what was in there.
