I was asking about the lack of a case with the 90th the guy sold, not the Special specifically as it happens

Surely you only learn by asking questions, however dumb they might seem to you?

Re: Help! JS Special

It's interesting that the signature on the Special under discussion is quite different to yours.

Re: Help! JS Special

You will notice that the color is actually not WH. So, I would say it is different from a JS1000WH.

Re: Help! JS Special

Here are some more pics for you, taken as it is. I bought it new from a dealer in Bangkok and it costed me around 1400USD (at that time or 1600USD now as the rate of exchange of Thai baht against USD has been really strong for the last few months). Enjoy

Re: Help! JS Special

I got in touch with him and saw the pictures of the guitar. Gorgeous! Yes, it's a real JS Special like others I saw. The guy has good reputation on all his sold items on e*b*a*y. He gave me the SN. I was told this model didn't come with spec case like JEM10TH, JS10TH originally. Is that right, Rich? He said he bought the guitar in Tokyo so he didn't take the normal M100 case with extra money from the dealer but a bag to carry the guitar with himself on plane. LOL, seems everyone has bad experience on baggage check in with airways.

No, it wasn't. A case only tells you if a package is complete, and has absolutely nothing to do with being able to tell if the guitar is real or not.

Re: Help! JS Special

Not at all but with the plethora of fakes around I didn't know if the lack of a case was something to be concerned about when paying big bucks for a relative rarity.

Jesus, it was a reasonable question surely?

Re: Help! JS Special

Suspicions? Is everything a conspiracy theory?

It either has a case of it doesn't, if it doesn't it's worth less.

Actually he had discounted the Special - it would've been a grand with the case.

Anyway, I'm not going for it now...lost trust in the guy to be honest after the debacle with the 90th.

Rich, what's your take on buying prestige/premium guitars without the accompanying case? Would it raise any suspicions in your mind or does it happen more frequently than I imagine it would?

Expect to see pics of Ratits Special soon
