I think that is awesome. I love the colors and the super scalloped maple board. All it's missing IMO is a Floyd.

Re: New Custom Guitar From ETGuitars

I'd expect a setup and finish you dont have to heavily modify for that kinda cash...but glad you got the guitar and you're happy. I got my custom today and thankfully its absolutely flawless, happy NGD (or i guess in your case not day but just in general happy new guitar) to us both .

That looks great! My ET custom guitar will be here early next week and I can't wait to put it together and give it a good review.

ET guitars does awesome work. I got to give them major props.

I'd love to play it. I love how the brightness melts your face.

Review (For those who are thinking about ordering from ETGuitars)

Customer Service - 10/10
Ernie usually replies to emails within 24 hours, and lets you know in advance when he is taking a vacation. He also sends an update every fortnight with pictures. For a guitar luthier, i feel this is very important so that the customer can comment on the work in progress, this way, both parties can be happy about the work.

Craftmanship and Build Quality - 8.5/10
Pretty good all round, especially so on the super thin neck (18mm throughout). It seems stable, and the scallops are consistent and they feel really good. The neck itself is super fast and i love the finishing on the back of the neck. Really smooth for easy playing. Body is CNCed so its pretty much standard. However, there are a few issues. There is a gap between the end of the neck and the body in the neck joint, also, the neck joint is not as tight as I would like it to be. As a result, i had to shim the neck a little. You can see it in the picture below:

Fret Dressing and Levelling - 7.5/10
Fret dressing is decent, however i have seen better (J.customs). Fret levelling is acceptable, however there is one fret which is super low(i think the 17th) causing quite a bad fret buzz for that particular fret, you can also see from one of the pictures that my action isn't really that low.

Finishing - 6/10
To be fair to Ernie, he did tell me before he sent it that the clearcoat was not perfect and i told him to send it to me anyway, so i will not comment on the clearcoating. I love the colours, i really do. They are very bright and thats how a neon guitar should look like. Based on colours alone its a 10/10 no question. However, some details on the guitar can be improved by quite a bit such as the "binding" and the yellow bits on the body. It is as if it is not sharp enough. The green as well is not consistent throughout the guitar. I don't really know how to explain so I've included some pictures as well in my next post

Re: New Custom Guitar From ETGuitars

Hi Ernie, i guess you were right when you said that this is either a "love it" or "hate it" guitar. For anyone wondering how it sounds like, it's a little brighter than a standard RG, gives it a more cutting edge / aggresive sound. I'll try to post some sound clips when i record it.

Re: New Custom Guitar From ETGuitars

Neal, well done on the assembly! It was a real pleasure working with you on this project, we appreciated your concept and sense of humour behind the "Lemonade" guitar. Our workshop is certainly a little less bright and colorful as it was while Lemonade was around!!!

Thanks also for the honest review. We totally agree with all you have said, but overall I think we are both pretty happy with the result. We do appreciate your constructive comments, it really does inspire us to improve on various details and workmanship, and we did certainly gain a lot of new experience in custom neck design and usage of neon paints just from your project alone. To be honest, we are thrilled that you feel our fretwork is getting towards the j-custom ballpark, and that our craftsmanship is high level. Neon paints.... well they are hard enough to use when doing just one color, but adding another to paint "bindings" and "trim" around hardware, it becomes brutally hard. Mostly because of the nature of the neon paint, and because it is partly transparent. But we are getting better!!!

And for those not sure about the colors - just consider that it was my girlfriends favorite project by a loooong way.... Any color scheme that has such an effect on women has gotta be a good thing!!!

Re: New Custom Guitar From ETGuitars

I wonder if those deep scallops could cause neck problems later down the road. That's quite a bit of wood missing from an already thin neck :/

Re: New Custom Guitar From ETGuitars

no doubt ! that guitar is awesome !
great colour - huge JCB'd scallops

I have to be truthful - looking at the details that you marked ET down on wouldnt bother me that much when the guitar is so "in ya face" !

love it
