Yeah when i saw the price i was like what the? When i bought the guitar the music shop had left overs from their 5th birthday sale, so i'm not sure if that was the sale price or RRP.
But IMO the shopping isn't that good here in Sydney, i think Melbourne has better shops.

There's nothing wrong with the 321MH, just that the 421EXFM looks nicer

At the music shop they had another hardtail, an Ibanez RG321MH for $590, but i decided to go with the 421, it looked alot nicer than the 321.

Actually just a side note if anyone is interested in the pick-ups. They are the Ibanez Designed by EMG set, yet they are actually passive and not active like you might assume. Which is a bit wierd since they look like actives an were designed by EMG.

As for the sound They sound like PAF Pros with some differences, they have more output and the bridge has a slightly fatter tone, as for the neck pickup not so fat as a PAF Pro, yet they both articulate like the PAF's and have similar harmonics. So for Mock EMGS and being passive they don't sound too bad, so they might stay for a few more weeks until i decide to put the EMG's in. So i hope that helps someone.

My friend has an RG370DX their not bad guitars, i tried one out in the shop a while before i bought the RGR421. Feels very similar to the 421 except the 370 has a trem.

Tremolo equipped guitars are great for all those weird sounds you can pull off with the whammy, but hardtails are the best for alternate tunings, which is one of the main reasons i bought the 421.
yeah ive currently got mine blocked. i will be getting either a freelok or a tremol-no.

The neck feels great.

Its a wizard II so slightly fatter then the wizard, which is good i prefer the slightly fatter necks.

It has a Satin clear coat on the back which feels really good, personally i dislike the necks that have a lacquer finish. When your hand gets sweaty it gets harder to move, the satin doesn't really have that "stickiness" factor, but i prefer the un-finished necks above all else, the satin finish comes a very close second.
