I can't answer your question but I can tell you the following.

The second one doesn't make sense to me. Mine was one of the very last to be numbered (in around 1996) and it looks like the top one. It also has a lot less filler around the inlays.

Apart from that the second one does look real.

I would love to have one, but I was more than a bit surprised by the tolerances for the vine. Rich's explanation sounds dead on to me.

Oh well, his loss, if that was a square joint, oh man I'd be all over it.

Made the other 99' 10th replacement necks, but not the rest of the 10th necks. I think the dope running the CNC put the disc in for the original vine program, the one that cut the crappy routs for the original FP's, etc. Not the tightened up clearences program in use by 96' the production 10th necks were cut with. Further modified again by 2000 when the routs got really tight.

Re: Jem 10th neck with 2 different serial.

PS. Thanks Rich - Quite right. Ask your questions and THEN buy it

Unfortunately Rockerfx bought it on **** and then backed out of the deal - saying it wasn't real........... his loss!!

Ibanez UK must have me as there only parts seller cos i sell lots of fakes - NOT! and my 99.9% bay feedback shows i stiff lots of people and they all leave me neg feedback - NOT!

Anyway, the folks who p1ss me about on **** just get added to my "blocked bidders list" so they can buy there bits elsewhere........ easy!

Re: Jem 10th neck with 2 different serial.

Hi

Why not just ask me - "the seller" of the neck, if its real..........?

The neck is 100% genuine Ibanez - BRAND NEW and never been on a guitar.

I ordered it for a customer who changed his mind - i could of left it with Ibanez but decided to get it in stock - for rarity value........ I was told by Ibanez Japan via Ibanez Uk that it was the last 10th neck they had (how true that is i don't know - but i wouldn't think these were made by the 1000)

I don't sell ANY non-genuine Ibanez parts.

I do, do some custom inlay/fingerboard/neck work - but i would make it CRYSTAL clear to any potential customer that they were buying a reproduction part.

That's the way it's supposed to look. I think it's actually one of the cool things that separetes the production necks from the knockofff necks.
We were not comparing it to different jem necks, we were comparing it to other Jem 10th necks. We are all aware of the black filler used on the florals.

Will add my share in here..

EDIT: The fretboards don't look that ugly in real life. Too much flash, I guess o_O

I dunno, I'm just trying to think of why the rout on these 3 necks are bigger.

Dude, that's common ebony fisure. "Crack bad" is where you can stick a couple business cards in the gap.

What sense does the different rout make?!

Re: Jem 10th neck with 2 different serial.

ahhh, so having 2 different CNC patterns makes sense now. yikes, that 1 neck's ebony is really starting to crack bad.
