Re: S5470TKS + ZR shots

why would I trade it if i really like the axe?
Sides, I know this isn't the classifieds but it's a very tempting offer although i only need a 1527M neck and i'm not interested in Schecter's...

Re: S5470TKS + ZR shots

Sounds like you are really like the guitar. Any chance you would want to trade it for one of mine. I have a Ibanez Prestige RG1527m in Galaxy White, basically brand new. Also have a Schecter Loomis C7FR. Both are practically brand new. Let me know.

Re: S5470TKS + ZR shots

Well I recently went back to Sam Ash to buy them about the bushing.
Well i guess they were in a good mood or something because they said they'd just swap the guitar out for a brand new one at no cost. I'm picking it up sometime around this friday.

Sam Ash ftw!

I like my d activator (dp220 bridge). It's pretty tight and isn't muddy. I can't compare it to actives or the x version cause I haven't tried them, but im very happy with mine

Re: S5470TKS + ZR shots

Oh... I didn't even bother looking under that.. thanks

well i guess the problems are just popping up one after another though..
I just recently started getting wierd feedback noises from my guitar. I would play some songs but some strings, the b strings in general just keeps making noise.. especially when i play on the 14th fret area. It would give sound and then die out in a gargling manner. I'm not really sure how to explain the sound but 2 seconds after hitting the note, it would sort of phase out. I'm not really sure if its something wrong with the frets or something because i recently bought it.. and Sam Ash set it up while they were looking for my case..

I just hope i get all these problems sorted out soon cause I'm really loving this guitar

Re: S5470TKS + ZR shots

There's a bushing under the torque cap, replace it and it'll tighten again as long as it lasts.

Re: S5470TKS + ZR shots

Well i took off the bridge yesterday.. it was actually pretty simple..
all you have to do is take off the springs and unscrew the ZR
I'll probably put some picks up later lol

i fixed the arm holder so its no longer floppy but i have one more question

how do you make the arm stay in place? even with my nut all the way down my arm still manages to fall downward when i play

i see.. well i think the only real problem with my guitar is that the ZR arm holder needs to be tightened because its a bit loose but i don't really know how to take it off... Do I screw the ball bearing holder all the way out? or is there a way to pull it off the studs like a floyd rose?
That sounds like a Rich question... I've never taken off the ZR as it looks like a PITA to do so as i'm much more comfortable prying out FR-type bridges.
... I think you'll need a pair of pliers to tighten the top and bottom screws of the arm holder.

Actually, I did get a clunk before the guitar was properly setup to my preference... took me a while to get the hang of setting up the ZR (coming from an Edge/Lo-Pro user) but I got the gist of how the thing works now, and no clunking! Only other odd noise i've heard was when I plugged my axe to my friend's VHT Sig:X head and you could hear the springs rattling... i'm pretty sure I'll need to put some foam in the spring cavity if I ever get the same amp but that's a different subject altogether.

Yep! exact reason why there's an Ibanez C2 in there now

well about the case.. no real harm done. i think the JS case would be safer because the guitar sits lower into the lining?

And I've read somewhere that people don't like the ZPS because they feel a clunk as soon as they hit the "zero point" when going from a pull up to a dive bomb.. I've never felt that.. is that just with the original ZR?

And while on that topic, before you switched out your pups did the middle pickup pull down your strings while divebombing? Even with mine set as low as it will go it still manages to pull down my strings about halfway through the dive..

I got mine from SA as well... though I'd seriously would've got it with the original case. The S-molded J-Craft cases are not as deep but a snug fit nonetheless (i'll take a pic of that later). Before I got mine, I was trying out the guitar without the bar on so I asked where the bar was... salesman said they don't want to risk the bar getting stolen... so I told them if all the tools/hardware/case were included with the "brand new" price... so they brought it out, with the shipping box. I was sold after opening the case and got a whiff of that "new guitar smell" and saw all the extras in it
The allen keys are cool cause they have a rounded "ball-end" tip, less chance of stripping the intonation and lock nut screws among other things i suppose!
As for the arm, Edge/Edge Pro arms are usually black and have the dual bushings at the bottom in which the ZR arms do not have. The arm you posted looks like its for a ZR though, the cosmo finish is an indication so just plop 'em right in and you'll hear a loud "snap", tighten arm collar and you're ready to go...
Have ya tried taking out the ZPS bar yet? I've only removed it a few times but I just leave it there for stability plus it still flutters, but not as extreme as an Edge.

They kept me there for around 30 minutes looking for the case and stuff but they were pretty cool about it and gave me like.. 30 sam ash picks, 2 packs of DR strings, and I also managed to get them to drop 100 bucks off the price.

And I've tried taking the ZPS out. It was nice and a little easier to do divebombs on but I really didn't have a problem with having less flutter and having to push a little more to drop.

Im loving the S its really comfortable to play and gives me all the tones i want from it. And the neck is amazingly easy to play.
Maybe I should try raising my action a little bit.. right now its set as low as it can go before I get buzz. Cause higher actions usually give better sustain right?

I bought my guitar from Sam Ash. When i went they didn't have the correct case for my S model. They gave me a choice to either buy the guitar in 3 days, bring the guitar in a box and pick up the case in 3 days, or to take an extra case they had for the JS. Since the JS and the S have pretty much the same imprint the guitar fit perfect so I took the case.
However instead of getting the correct tools and Whammy bar for my guitar I got the one from the JS. The allen keys is no big deal considering i have a bunch of them anyway. But I was wondering if the arm from the JS is the same as the one for the S.

I usually get that magic "infinite" sustain around the 15th fret area depending on the day and amp I plug it in to... otherwise; sustain above the 15th fret is about 3 - 4 seconds before it "dies" out as opposed to a natural decay...
I doubt the stock middle pickup had something to do with the sustain although I'd suggest lowering down that pup lower than where it's at right now if you think that could be the problem. I haven't noticed an increase in sustain since the pup upgrades either; more or less the same... just louder.
and oh ya, post pics!
