Thanks - I'm not terribly electrically minded as it were, but my Dad's a clever chap so I'll get him to check it over later.

You can check it with a multimeter by measuring between the two outer pins.

And I am jealous of your Maxxas. Very.

Maxxas MX-3 Wiring Question

Would anyone happen to know what value pots were used as stock in the MX-3s?

It's a '87 model if that makes any difference. I just whipped the tone pot out, but there are no markings on it that give the value of the pot.

Any help would be great, as Google gives nothing. Or is this something I can check/get checked with a multimeter?
