Voted for Nirvana, but only because I didn't know other bands back in '90s (I was just a kid, don't blame me )

I think Soundgarden really did some amazing stuff and where way progressive for a grunge band, I did end up voting for AIC thought because they helped me out of alot of dark places, plus Cantrell is AWSOME! I will say however there are some bands that were grunge too that arnt on this list, like the Silverchair, Bush, Sonic Youth, Dinsaur Jr, Pansonic and guess what!???? I think FAITH NO MORE is grunge too and should have been on this list! nuff said. peace \oo/

No, I didn't enjoy grunge because I didn't.

Re: Favorite Grunge band of the '90s!

I was 15 when it started, it's exactly what I needed at the time since thrash became a formula and was going nowhere. Of course I loved the technical stuff too and worshipped a lot of "hair bands" before that. Another thing I dislike however, is how the industry immediately crapped on all those great bands and turned their back on them in favor of a new thing. Same evil force that turned ballads, thrash AND grunge into a stale formula. Thank god for the internet for the fact that it's going back in the hands of the people to decide what's good, and good old fashioned heavy touring and promoting is in effect again to keep things afloat. Let the industry big dogs keep pushing that beeber crap to the girls.

Not to stoke the fire however I did see the earlier scoff at Silverchair. I would not call myself a fan of Silverchair per se, in fact I couldn't stand them as a teenager, however they did manage to go on to greater longevity than I would have originally predicted. And to top it off I quite liked Diorama.....shame on me. I also agree that the don't really belong in the company of these bands as the bands mentioned really did shape the world of grunge. I also didn't really get Nirvana in the 90s but years later I find it scary how good they were. Overall STP does it for me.

Mother Love Bone was awesome... Too bad Andrew died but I guess there wouldn't have been a Pearl Jam if he hadn't???

Re: Favorite Grunge band of the '90s!

Grunge was just a name forced onto the resurgence of punk attitude mixed with metal, hardcore, indie rock, blues, you name it. They didn't create some sound and put that stamp on it, it was a monumental evolution of modern music that can never be ignored, just like everything before it. The bands that caught the label were the ones most easily placed within the boundaries of the Seattle sound. Others were evolving at the time as well in many directions, things were FINALLY changing. The thing I hate most about the "grunge movement" is all the post grunge bull **** I have to hear all over the radio now, like Creed and Nickelback... ugh. The freakin YARL. The mere existence and popularity of garbage like that proves that the early "grunge" bands were doing something important. My 2 cents.

AIC all day, I love everything with blues infused into it. Nirvana is close but I never liked anything past Nevermind, Kurt was one of a kind. SG had some sick tunes and Chris is a monster. Mad Season was greatness. What the hell happened to Sugartooth? For some reason they reminded me of early Sabbath.

And umm... Pumpkins are from Chicago, geez. I loved their first few albums. Some other non grunge 90's bands that kicked ass were Fugazi, Jane's Addiction and TOOOOL!

Mine is AIC although STP and Pearl Jam had some great stuff.
I'm glad came grunge along and knocked the spandex and makeup off of the carbon copy scene. Of course a new carbon copy scene was created but it put it's stamp on today's music. Now you can have bands like August Burns Red that don't have to show up in a costume to melt your face off.
That said, grunge rarely finds a spot in my current playlists. **yawn**skip**

I like ska-punk....... oh well.

Fav post-grunge - Foo Fighters.

I like the Big 4 Seattle bands equally. Best act out of Seattle....Hendrix.
