Re: Why is my tremolo so "heavy"? Dont be afraid to experiment with all the springs on your trem. Think of it as getting to know it better. Its all mechanical and can be readjusted by a tech if you cant figure it out. |

Re: Why is my tremolo so "heavy"? Maybe it's already been said, but why not be happy about that it is "heavy"? It basically improve everything, the way I look at it, more stable trem, less pitch dips from moving the guitar, no "bauooowwww" wobbling when hitting chords, staying in tune better, no annoying "flutter" noise when not wanting it ect. /Magnus |

Or, do a pinch harmonic with the bar down and then let it back up (Satriani), or "dump" the bar so the strings are slack, hit a note, and then do a fret harmonic as you let the bar back up (Dimebag). MY personal favorite is hitting 2 or more simultaneous pinch harmonics, and then doing a dive/pull-up/or both. Sounds like the devil is screamin at you! ![]() These are the ones that might take a little bit of practice, mostly trial and error. ![]() Quote:

Re: Why is my tremolo so "heavy"? Just abuse the tremolo alot. I've got a 2006 1570, it's pretty "spongy" now compared to when it was new. It's boring as hell doing divebombs and squeals for 20 min, but it sure loosens your springs up. Rock on! |

Re: Why is my tremolo so "heavy"? You could switch to 9 gauge and only use 2 springs if you wanted. That would reduce tension. |

Re: Why is my tremolo so "heavy"? As nuno said, springs need to be broken in. Also, if you don't use them for some time, they can stiffen back up again. That said, I also wonder about how easily you see some guys dumping the bar. They can go from neutral to having the the bridge at a steep angle so quickly. Part of it is just practice, but another part of it makes me think that they probably do this all the time and their springs are probably older and well-used. |

Re: Why is my tremolo so "heavy"? well, the EdgePro is actually stiffer than many other trems. and i also think you have to have the springs "breaking" as they're spanking new. used springs usually are softer. aobut the red things can't be seeing because of the point where you've taken the photograph, and also because their partially recessed into their "niches" into the spring block. |

Why is my tremolo so "heavy"? When I watch videos of people doing tricks with the tremolo bar, it always surprises me how easily they press it down. On my RG1570, which I have had for a good 6 months now (first guitar with a tremolo) pressing it down seems more difficult. I can't be my strength because I work out a lot and have got big gunz (lol). Anyways, because I am new to this I figured lets ask the kind people at jemsite. So, why is the tremolo so "heavy"? I also have some (large) snapshots of the springs. ![]() hxxp://img189.imageshack.us/i/img0296l.jpg/ hxxp://img138.imageshack.us/i/img0295b.jpg/ Sorry for posting the links like this but my post count is not sufficient. |
