Customized an Ibanez RGD320. It rocks now! HNGD!

Father's Day coupon on top of a sale price was too good to pass up, so I snagged this Ibanez RGD320 baritone - 26.5" scale. Nice guitars in typical Ibanez fashion, but the pickups were dreadful - although I knew that coming in.

I grabbed a set of SD Full Shreds off the 'Bay, and since I really never use a tone pot, I took that out too. Wired in a 3-way blade switch.

Looks great, plays great, and the price was right! This is about as close to a custom guitar as I've had - well...a custom of my own doing that is... :)

Couple pics - sorry about the uber-blinding flash. I'll get some outside soon.

very nice! white is the new brootalz.
I used a 3 way blade on my fireman and I like it lots. I never used postions 2 and 4 anyways;). enjoy it! How are those pickups??
I swear , once you start modding guitars, there is no looking back

I'm still floored that the wiring worked THE FIRST TIME! :D

I had a lot of problems figuring out the schematic for the 3-way switch, and an even harder time with my POS soldering iron.

Yeah, I never use 2 & 4 either. I prefer toggle switches, but blades are okay. The pickups sound pretty good - mid-output and mid-rangey, just the way I like them. A little tweaking, but as it is now, it isn't giving up a whole lot to my RGD2120's.

I have always loved white guitars, and with the white pickups, it does something to it... I wasn't shooting for brutal, but it is understated evil... ;) Kind of a Broderick vibe.

Thanks for the kudos!

Congrats, how does the 26.5 scale compare to 25.5?

yeah, I'm usually sittin there with he guitar jack hanging out, plugged into a practice amp touching wires together like McGyver to make sure everything works . I'm getting better though!

If you are not using a wet sponge on the soldering tip between solders, start doing that, works wonders.

I prayed a lot!

I do use the water on the sponge thing. I also (late in the game) went to a flat tip (like a slot screw driver) rather than the pencil tip I had been using the first 4 hours...made things work MUCH better!

Now...new pics!

Now I think white with white pickups is totally under-rated.8). just saw you are in MN.. are you in the metro? I'm in east St Paul. :p

If it matches up, it's tough to beat! I was going to go black/white, but I'm glad I went all white.

Yep - I'm over just south of Como Lake a few blocks.

Ha funny. I probably drove past your house yesterday as I was in that area. I saw those outside pics you posted and though.. "That looks like here"! sure enough, I check your location. small world. :p

Small world indeed!

The truss rod is all settled down, and this guitar is a PLAYER! Very fun play. AND...I just got back a K7 I sold about 2 years ago. It's got a bit more "character" now than it had when it left me, but this is one I really wanted back, and it showed up on my doorstep yesterday. My Ibby arsenal continues to expand! :)

What's the name of the things you use to block a removed pots hole?

I was wondering that as well!
looks like one of those things you use on say, a bookshelf to hide the screws.

I was just a screw cover I found digging around at the hardware store. I filled the hole with nail hole filler, and then just laid the screw cover over it with a little glue.

There are some hole plugs available out there, but they were special order, and I actually wanted to see them first, so I tried this. So far, so good.
