Wish List

I was wondering what production guitars would be on everyones wish list? I guess you could put custom and dream guitars in as well.

Since I like hard tails I wish for:

Caparison Angelus HGS + EMG
EBMM Y2D
Ibanez RG-3271
Washburn X-81 Face Eraser
Wayne mahogany Monster

I checked out the Dean ML USA model on line. They look pretty cool. I'll have to see if anyone around here sells them so I can try one out.

I had a LP Standard Heritage Cherry. It was nice, and heavy. The Burstbucker Pro pickups kicked a$$. I sold it to a guy in Texas. I put it up on e-bay during one of the .99 specials with a high reserve and someone snatched it up in ten minutes.

I have four RGs:
* RG-1521 black (upgraded pickups)
* RG-1521 white
* RG-421 black
* RGT42DXFX

I used to have a PGM-301WH. I sold it to a guy in New York. It was my introduction to Ibanez guitars. Afterwards I found some of the other hardtails mentioned above. They suite me better (rosewood).

I sold a black Jackson Y2KV to a guy in Munich, Germany. He paid alot for it. It was a great sounding guitar but too awkward for me. The case for it was HUGE.

The only acoustic I've ever owned was an HD-28. It was a S&D special from MF. I stole it from them since the only thing wrong with it was a crack in the case. I played cowboy chords on it so much the first couple of frets were pretty worn when I sold it to a Canadian. He fixed it all up. This was another .99 listing that went in fifteen minutes.

I also had a American Fat Strat Texas Special that I just plain wore out. It was my first electric. The frets were pretty bad and I didn't want to pay to fix so I traded it in.

I bought and Ibanez Destroyer for cheap but it was crap so I sold it.

I had a Caparison Horus Deep Sea for a short time but could not deal with the tremelo so I sold it.

Oh, I have a green MM Benji too. It is the best made guitar I've ever owned. Pure quality. If it had a rosewood board it would be number one. They are going for cheap now.

I haven't found any guitars that I've become really attached to. The RGs seem to be the only keepers.

Not sure, as I have only played the RG321. I love the Wizard neck, but if I ever got a hardtail I think I'd want the Wizard 2 just to have something different. The RG321 has a Wizard 2. What's on the 421?

Waw! That's the one I really want! You just don't like trems or it was crappy bridge?
And what about the clean sounds? It's got everything I like, but I really love clean sounds and sound of neck pickups, so I am not shure if it's good for me (if it does other things than metal). And I don't think I will ever use the 27th fret, but the look of the guitar is amazing and the body is different (nicer :-) than on Dellinger series, not mentioning the gorgeous headstock!

Wizard II as well. I have it, with a Tone Zone/Air Norton combo. Great guitar.

I wanted to get a guitar with a trem so I ordered the Horus from Ishibashi. I saw one ages ago but never found where to get one here. The guitar was amazing, the quality, everything. I just found myself fighting the trem. Maybe I just didn't give it enough time.

Actually I had the guitar for a couple of months when a rogue staple in the case scratched the back of the guitar. They replaced everything free of charge.

The tone was unique. It cleaned up well.

If I would have kept it I'd probably jack some EMGs in it.

Thanks mate! And what about the neck pickup? Wasn't it too edgy? I mean, it is too close to bridge, more like midle pickup. But Caparison said, it has special voicing to have sound like neck picup, so I am curious if it's truth.

Re: Wish List

I would really love to try the Caparison range too actually. Mainly because Christopher Amott (Arch Enemy) and the guys from Killswitch play them. Amott's siganture model is the one that really takes my fancy. I would also love to try the fixed-bridge Dellinger. The only problem is getting them in the UK, they arent sold anywhere over here. And in the US they still seem to be pretty expensive.

But the main reason I want to try them is because of Arch Enemy and Killswitch Engage. They are both awesome bands.

old_metal_head 07-28-2005 02:48 PM

Re: Wish List

IMO the Caparison Horus was very similar to a Jackson in the neck and feel. Most like a Dinky.

In fact, I think I read somewhere that the people who manufacture the Caparison guitars make (or used to make) the Japanese Jackson models (Jackson Stars and the like).

I'm not sure if they are comparably worth what they cost except for the look. If that makes sense.

Some consider them boutique. Maybe in the early days.

The only shop that sells the here _really_ takes advantage of being the sole US distributer.

I'd still like to get an Angelus HGS + EMG.

The Caparison horus has 27 frets right? that's got to be a slight pain with a 24.75 scale neck.

Yea, Horus is short scale and 27th fret. But looks awesome!

.

If you compare the japanese prices to Ibanez guitars prices, I don't think they are expensive. Especialy Horus has good price in Japan, the problem is, how to get them here! :-) Only the artist (signature) series are more expensive, but not Dellinger or Horus. And I think you can get them form Sweden (or Norway?) but prices are much higher there (even more expensive than from USA distributor).

Re: Wish List

I'd like an late 50's Gibson Super 400 with PAFs, a '59 or '60 ES-355 with PAFs (in cherry, no trem) and a '59 or '60 Les Paul burst. And an LGM 7 string with a piezo trem. That would do it for me. (and a Dumble 100W Steel String Slinger to play them through).

But I'd hate to have all my all time favorites arrive all at once. They need to come one at a time, and stay as long as they stay...

Although I've gone through several guitars I've only ever had one amp.

I never gave serious thought about replacing my Mesa Boogie Rect-O-Verb.

I guess if I have the dollars I would build something like:
* Mesa Rectifier Recording preamp.
* Mesa Rectifier Stereo 2:100 power amp.
* 2x12 ROAD KING Horizontal cabinet.
* TC-Electronic G-force.
