Re: 5 way selector switch problems

what pickup did you install and do you have a vlx91 switch ?

it sounds like you jumped a terminal or soldered to the wrong one. IF you can take pictures of your switch and how everything is...

Re: Prestige SV5470a PU change for SDs

as far as thickness, i'd just use some foam to help get the right height. You can also use springs on the underside of the mounting tabs between the tabs and the body.

I am not sure I have ever...

Re: can the neck on this Gio be repaired? It has a couple of dead spots

a twist in a circular fashion can't be fixed by a trussrod adjustment and the neck is done for(it would need considerable amount of work to fix, much more than the guitar is worth and much more than...

Re: Let's talk pickups and types of wood...

I hate the super III, it has a tighter bass, tons of mids and very chopped treble. If you like the feel of that pickup but want a little brighter sound, try the super distortion. Textural it feels...

Re: What type of pickup selector switch for an RG550?

if i remember right the fender 5 way switch fits one direction but not the other. There is a flatter side that has to go toward the outside of the guitar and the side with the spring goes toward the...

Re: Let's talk pickups and types of wood...

while wood does play a little bit in to your guitar's sound it seems more likely that it is the floyd that is making some of the difference as well.

another issue is taking subjective terms like...

Re: Tremolo claw screws

they are wood screws but are under a fair amount of tension. you'll want to get stainless steel screws if possible. try to stay away from zinc as it is softer and even though it probably wont snap...

Re: Rg 570 genesis, fishman?

they should fit just fine, they are the same size as emg pickups and people have put those in 570s before. Are you concerned about the battery or battery pack? assuming you have decent wiring in the...

Re: potentiometers good and bad

Dimarzio and fender pots are just re-branded CTS pots. The cts stuff is great, the burns stuff is good. Burns has a few different series of pots ranging from lower end to extremely nice.

I have...

Re: Locking nut with 7.25" radius?

yes, that would probably help out a little bit. You could also try some guitar nut sauce

https://store.bigbends.com/Nut-Sauce_p_12.html

it helps keep the strings from binding at the nut. Also...

Re: Locking nut with 7.25" radius?

never seen a locking nut that is less than a 10 inch radius. You may have to keep the behind the nut locking setup. what trem does it have on it ?

Re: Ibanez RG620X - Piezo Circuit

for the tone knob, it is in fact as simple as just cutting it out.

what is the goal for the peizo? to have it so you can operate in all three settings and have them come out one jack?

Re: Swapping RG necks?

you don't need to use the locking nut or even have the pads installed. I fail to see how a locking nut that isn't locked is any different than any other nut. who cares if it is locked, most fixed...

Re: Can someone help me with the value on this one?

agreed, the headstock logo looks off. Just look at the part of the swish closest to the A string tuner. It looks smeared. The hand grip also looks a little off.

I think you have a fake. You can...

Re: Coil Split Question

yes it is possible, you'd need a new 5 way switch. You'd also need to nail down what exact configuration you want the switch to be. Another issue is going to be if your pickups are 4 conductor...

what positions are you trying to make single coil ? cts pots are nice but they are a larger diameter hole so to use them you'd have to drill/ream the current holes larger. Bourns pots are good too,...

Re: Volume Knob Wont Work

yes, i have also seen this same thing happen with a bad pot. sometimes they get damaged from being hit, and sometimes if they are heated too long they will do this same thing. you may have a bad pot.
