Re: Ibanez JS2410-SYB

Exactly, far too many people whine. I like the specs, the colour combination is, for me, nasty enough that I would pass in favour of a different JS. I'm sure many will love it.

Re: New Black Pia

I with you on that. Heresy I know but I thought the others were hideous.

Red face Re: Gibson acquires Mesa/Boogie

Kind of what I did, though my AxeFX lived in there for a while for the full Petrucci fanboy moments

Re: Gibson acquires Mesa/Boogie

Ha! Wish I had the excuse to actually use it. I will probably let it go at some point, obviously to use the cash to buy something else :-)

Re: Gibson acquires Mesa/Boogie

I still have my Triaxis/2:Ninety set up, and though rarely use it can't quite bring myself to sell it! It probably has very little resale value anyway.

Re: Gibson acquires Mesa/Boogie

I suspect there is a lot of truth in that - I'm assuming here, but I suspect that the "metal" market formerly dominated by Mesa is the one that was most willing to move to modelling. Mesa are left...

Re: Which high gain single coil is closest to the EVO

BKP Cobra's were the first thing that came to mind. The ISCV is not particularly high output.

Re: What's a good string height action?

A "good" action is one that works for you, nothing else. Some people prefer lower, some higher.

Re: Rounded truss rod end - is it possible to fix?

Agree with the other posters, that nut is not rounded, just the very top edge. A properly fitting tool will still work fine.

Re: High e string intonation very low

4mm, and a 1.5mm for the locking one inside (I think the genesis has them)

Re: High e string intonation very low

1mm is very low, I suggest you raise it a little but these things are all personal preference. It is possible you have a dodgy or damaged string too. Try changing it.

Re: High e string intonation very low

Fret buzz at that end of the neck suggests insufficient relief, but if it is only the high E that would be odd- twisted neck or a fret issue somewhere. What is your action like at the 12th fret?

Re: 3 Humbuckers split coils which cancel at all positions

You need to split both pickups involved in positions 2 and 4 to be hum cancelling, so you have:

Neck both coils
Neck split with middle split
Middle both coils
Middle split with bridge split...

Re: RT240 Rebuild

Took this guitar to rehearsal last night with this intention of using it for a couple of songs. Ended up sticking with it for the whole evening, really versatile guitar.

RT240 Rebuild

This was a fun little rebuild that I just finished. An RT240 - the previous owner(s) had changed it to a single humbucker, with a white pickguard, and glued the bridge down. I have done the...

Re: Passive pickups - is wiring same for every brand?

There is no problem mixing passive pickups from different brands, just be aware that as peromucho7 mentions the colour coding of the wires does vary so you will have to do a little translation of any...
