Re: Gibson acquires Mesa/Boogie

I also think you can't overlook the impact of social media on this, especially to anyone who doesn't have preconceived notions of what a guitar should should be. Micing cabs is not easy and Pete...

Re: Gibson acquires Mesa/Boogie

This was the rig I dreamed about back in the day, plus some sort of T.C. Electronics rack effects. I remember seeing Dream Theater during the Falling Into Infinity tour and Petrucci's live sound...

Re: Gibson acquires Mesa/Boogie

Our CEO once commented during a Q&A session that if a company is up for sale, it's a good indication that things aren't going well there.

I have to think that Mesa's market share has taken a big...

Re: Its impossible to find the 30th Jem for $3500?

Honest to God. Is this guy only here to whine?

This search took me less than a minute. Here's one in the exact price range he's talking about from last month.

Re: How easily can the knife edges on the Original Edge wear out?

People simply assume that if the guitar won't stay in tune, it must be that the knife edges are shot. I can understand how someone inexperienced could jump to that conclusion, but it simply isn't the...

Re: Its impossible to find the 30th Jem for $3500?

Granted this wasn't in the past month, but in this year I've seen these pretty often in the $3000-3500 range. There aren't tons of these things so it doesn't seem unusual to me at all that you can go...

Re: Dimarzio dp58

That's an Evolution. The lowest number is DP100, which is the original Super Distortion pickup from the 70's.

Re: New J-Customs, worth the upcharge?

I think this is a tough question to ask in 2020, because you're getting different things for your money. Neck to me is always the biggest because it's the most obvious thing you feel. These will have...

Re: Covid, and you.

Interesting to log back onto Jemsite after a while and see this thread. It's certainly been an interesting run over here the past few months. My two daughters will be 4 and 1 in August and the last...

Re: Ibanez S540LTD questions

As a rule of thumb, if the last 5 digits of the serial number are 30000 or greater, it was possibly sold as the following model year guitar. Definitely 33000 and above, which is October production....

Re: Thoughts on the PIA (The new JEM)?

I actually donít have a problem with the white finish, but Iím a sucker for pearl white. I think the regular old JEM7VWH would have looked nice in pearl white.

I donít have a problem with the...

Re: Thoughts on the PIA (The new JEM)?

This gold on gold with the colorful vine is really a beautiful finish. Why could they just not have made a Jem like this?

Re: Collectible?, RG2570E 2007, J Craft, Ghost Shark Fins, Gold

These are not collectible. Not sure where you are but in the US that's probably a $500-700 guitar including the case. Like you say, that finish isn't the most popular. People also tend to pay less...

Re: Thoughts on the PIA (The new JEM)?

The white, green and yellow colors actually look really nice. It's s shame Ibanez doesn't do more gloss pearl colors in general. The RGD-style cutaway on the back is also a nice move. Also don't...

Re: Thoughts on the PIA (The new JEM)?

Steve seems to be in that position many from his generation have been and are finding themselves in: do I release something new or is it about servicing nostalgia at this point? Steve seems like he's...

Re: New Jem next year?

Well that sounds better than what I assumed the real reason was (blue Aston wrapped around a pole somewhere).

Re: Ibanez 2020 Catalog + NAMM

I hear that, which is why I thought maybe something simple like a color change. I feel like most folks who wanted a Purple Neon RG550 have scratched that itch by this point?

Re: Thoughts on the PIA (The new JEM)?

They need to add an eggplant hole to the left of those water drops.

Re: New Jem next year?

This will be quite the litmus test of Vai fanboyism.

So Rich, my working theory is that you opened the dealer catalog and then punched a hole in the wall.

Re: Ibanez 2020 Catalog + NAMM

Iím going to not talk about the PIA for a minute.

I was actually most surprised that the Genesis line carried on with zero changes. I expected perhaps a new batch of colors, or a revival of some...

Re: New Jem next year?

And I think if you read further into that, I think Steve is retiring the Jem as his signature guitar. This is his new signature model.
