Re: Jem70v vs Jem505

If it helps your decision, I don't believe the Jem505 has stainless steel frets. Both guitars have normal nickel frets.

The profile is different though - 6105 have a "narrow and tall" profile...

Re: JEM pickguard shape slightly changed over time?

That reminds me of the Korean RGs - their pickguards were always less attractive in that area next to the bridge. From the 1995 catalog:

Re: Jem Trem Bar Bushings are Useless

I too use teflon thread tape between the bush and the bar. I don't use the bar a ton, and it seems to stay firm for many years at a time.

I like the heat idea, I'll probably try that next time.

Re: Anyone who have played the EVO replica?

It's pretty sad (if not pathetic) to see people throwing insults just because they have different tastes. Some folks here own guitars that to me are orders of magnitude uglier than a bashed up 7v,...

Re: Pickup Height on Jem7VWH

Bridge - high, as close as possible without hitting strings when I pull up
Middle - low, but still a bit above the pickguard, so not in the way of picking
Neck - medium, again to stay out of the...

Re: Alternate for Edge Pro Arm nylon bushings

Another option is plumbers thread tape - wind a bit on the arm and push the bushings over. It might take a couple of goes to get the tension right and get the tape sitting properly but should last a...

Re: Swirled LP project - finally done!!!

I think it looks awesome for a micro-action swirl. Nice definition in the colours.

Re: Replacing Lo-TRS II with Gotoh, need help!

S470 would be a Wizard II neck which is 400mm/15" radius, and I believe the Gotoh is made for a 15" radius. A little difference won't matter anyway - I put a Lo-Pro Edge (which I guess is a 430mm...

Re: Are Ibanez Edge Pro trems case hardened steel like the OFR's?

I've never owned an Edge Pro, but I believe like the Edge and Lo-Pro, the removable knife edges are hardened. Which achieves the same result as the one-piece hardened base plate of an OFR.

Re: lo-trs II

The knife edges are part of the baseplate, and the baseplate isn't hardened so the knife edges just go blunt - then the bridge won't return to neutral properly.

The bar also just rattles around...

Re: how fast can you translate?

I can move my wrist side to side fairly quick on a desk, but for me this flat position doesn't translate to guitar if I want to palm mute efficiently. On guitar I need a more angled position where...

Re: What the Hell is a Dan O caster JEM

Judging by the very tip of the headstock it looks a bit to me like a Wizard II neck, they have a slightly different cut to the Wizard and Jem necks judging by my own guitars. Perhaps something like...

Re: Where is the original PAW Universe?

He could be thinking of the back cover, particularly the enlarged version on the Hal Leonard TAB book (I assume also on the back of the LP) - it was pretty pixely.

I'd definitely go with Rich at ibanezrules. As a plus the USD exchange rate is fantastic at the moment. Since you are in Australia another consideration might be ETguitars if you want a custom...

Re: i want to learn music theroy

There are shapes used for theoretical purposes and shapes used for technique purposes. I think most people find they are usually not one and the same.

Re: i want to learn music theroy

This is post I wrote a while ago on another board, you might find it useful, although I don't know what level you're at. When initially learning I'd use an approach something like this.

"If your...

I love how nobody ever gives a simple answer to these questions! I can relate to your question because I'm in the same place - it'd be nice if someone said "My former experience was X, and I...

Re: Need help with my RG Paint 2-- Video showing the issue

All my Ibanez's with Lo-Pros and locking studs will do it to various degrees (I don't have any other Ibanez hardware combos so I don't know about them). It only takes a small difference in angles to...

Re: ps3 or xbox

Graphically they're pretty similar. In terms of resolution almost no games render at 1080p, and many don't even render at 720p (regardless of console). As an example, Modern Warfare 1 and 2 both...

I have been listening to some of his stuff on youtube the last few days - Addicted and Ki sound awesome. Probably get them on itunes and then buy the box set.

Been watching his recent D'Addario...

Re: Are Replicas Legal? Cannot find the right custom 7 string

ET Guitars (link at the top of the page) would be my pick. I've only ever read good things about them on this forum.
