Re: Gonna get flamed for this, too... why is Hendrix elevated to "untouchable" status

I wouldn't worry about it. Hendrix was a long time ago.

While, I can appreciate what he was doing, and his music to some degree. I'm not much of fan either. He did break some ground in his time,...

Re: Are RG570's better than RG550's?

Of course, the 570 has a higher model number. It plays much faster.

Re: Rehearsal fail

Hell I get our drummer to play lighter during rehearsals or use the electric kit, everyone turns down, you could talk with a raised voice and be heard clearly. Everything sounds so much better than...

Re: RIP Ed Roman.

I wonder if now I can get those trans-trem parts without having to prove I'm a rock star first.

Re: Upgrading to a higher level RG

I'd look at your overall set up. EMG 81/85 combo shouldn't sound particularly muddy or thin. Amp, EQ, effects and almost everything else will have a greater effect on "muddy" or "thin" tone more so...

Re: Canada and guitar gear, namely pickups

They guitar guy at my local L&M actually tells me almost every time I ask about something that I'd be better off buying online. Of course, I know this anyway, but if they have something in stock and...

Re: Canada and guitar gear, namely pickups

Agree... it completely sucks getting proper gear here. Unless you're looking for the typical mid-range stuff all the stores carry it's next to impossible. Special orders, eBay and private sales are...

Re: Most annoying guitar riff (to you)?

If you ever get a chance I'd encourage you to find the "Classic Albums" episode about Hysteria. In it they clearly explain the origin of this song, and what they were going for with the verses and...

Re: Dwindling output in 5150

I don't disagree, if you're looking for a clean tone, the 5150 is not your best choice. It is a very one trick pony kind of amp, if you like it, you love it. If you need versatility, again probably...

Re: Dwindling output in 5150

Uh, the 5150 doesn't have a clean channel. Rhythm and Lead.

Re: Dwindling output in 5150

The 5150 FX loop can do that too if it gets dirty, or a shorted connection. Also as said, power tubes are a likely culprit.

Good luck with the JSX, I'd argue the 10 times better thing. There's...

Re: How to Remove white "Dimarzio" logo from Evo pickup??

Little strip of electrical tape? Not permanent, won't affect anything.

Re: Recommended action for guitar strings (10-52)

Check the guitars recommended specs as a starting point. A good number of brands will have recommended height and neck relief measurements. From there decide if you would prefer it higher / lower,...

Re: Speed for scale runs and legato

20+ years and I still can't do what Gilbert does. His level of skill is kind of an unrealistic expectation. Can it be done? Sure. Can it be done by everyone? No.

I'm pretty sure his right hand is...

Re: Marshall JVM410 Questions

Couldn't let that slide, sorry.

EVH is/was never known to use a JCM at all, other than the occasional backline appearances for backup purposes or what not. EVH used a, what has now been revealed...

Re: Marshall JVM410 Questions

I tested out the JVM a few weeks ago when I was looking at a new heads. For me, it sounded pretty good with various tones. It was very versatile. My only gripe really is price (you pay a lot for that...

Re: What keeps Ibanez from launching a Custom or Semi-Custom Shop?

Remember the old Peavey Wolfgang custom shop that everyone wanted. Peavey tried it, and from what I can recall all it got were complaints about limited options, and high prices. I don't think they...

Re: Non Ibanez Signatures

Haha...

Perhaps some flaws in your logic, but I do like the N4 more than the JP... if I wanted the JP, I'd probably just get something similar in an Ibanez and save $1500. The N4 has a certain...
