Re: EMG or Blackouts for Basswood?

Blackouts are killer in basswood. And I'm a huge fan of the Gus G set, especially in Ibanez RGs. The Gus G set has this really cool thick tone that stacks really well when you're multi-tracking, but...

Re: OFFICIAL IBANEZ 8 STRING GUITAR R&D TEAM

Y'know what I think would make a cool 8-string? The FR. I fell in love with that thing ever since I saw Paul Gilbert use one at a guitar clinic.

Re: Is there an Ibanez pickup very similar to Super 58?

I really like the Super 58. It's Alnico III (at least the old ones are, not sure if the new ones or the Super 58 Custom are Alnico V), and I can't think of anything else in the Ibanez line that...

Re: Seymour Duncan Upgrade

I'm using the Perpetual Burn and '59. Took a few minutes of tweaking to get the balance right (the '59 is bassier than the PB, so I had to lower the '59 and raise the PB a little) but once you've got...

Re: Time for an Upgrade

I'd suggest the SD Pegasus and Sentient. I have this combo in my Iron Label 8-string and it's really versatile. The Pegasus can handle clean and crunch really nicely and it's killer with some extra...

Seymour Duncan 805 Overdrive pedal

Hey folks! In January I got to evaluate a few prototype Seymour Duncan overdrives at Seymour Duncan HQ alongside Keith Merrow, Wes Hauch and a few other awesome chaps. One version in particular stood...

Re: Gibson SG tone out of S470?

Pearly Gates would get you as close as you could reasonably hope to get.

Re: H-S - Single coil question

In those instances I would use a reverse wound/reverse polarity single coil in the neck, so that you'll get hum-cancelling tones in the middle position if you wire it up so the humbucker is split to...

Re: Pickup reccomendations?

In the Intense Rock video where his tone is supra bright he's using a Seymour Duncan mini humbucker in the neck and (depending on who you ask) either a Distortion or Custom in the bridge position.

Re: Seymour Duncan Slug.. 48K!?

Haha. I played a prototype back in January. It's a monster! It's surprisingly punchy and bright, which you wouldn't expect from a pickup with such high output. I'm treating myself to one for my...

Re: Other Alnico Magnets (6 and 8)

I haven't heard of any. The string pull would probably be pretty intense in a single coil.

Re: Other Alnico Magnets (6 and 8)

Yeah, I have my own Seymour Duncan Custom Shop pickup called the Magnetar which uses Alnico 8 and it's killer. Imagine an Evolution without the harshness and with spongier bass - it's like if the Evo...

Re: FINALLY! SD Perpetual Burn

I really dig mine. And yesterday I adjusted the pickup and pole piece heights between the Perpetual Burn and the '59 to reduce the boominess of the '59 relative to the PB. (On its own merits I love...

Re: Middle Pickup for S470

You could check out the Duncan Cool Rails too. Sweet pickup for the middle position.

Re: Duncaned up my RG550 REAL good.

Just a Marshall DSL50 on the Lead channel (regular mode, not Ultra) with the gain on about 7.

Re: Duncaned up my RG550 REAL good.

I'm not sure if Australia has 'em yet. If not I'm sure it won't be long.

Re: Duncaned up my RG550 REAL good.

This isn't my 'proper' demo but just something I whipped up for the folks on the Seymour Duncan forum who wanted to hear it clean and dirty. Straight into the Marshall with a teensy bit of amp reverb...

Re: JS Signature Hendrix Guitar

Okay, he said there's something else they're working on too, but the SSS is getting much, much closer to reality as of a few months ago. He said they finally nailed the pickups recently.

Re: Duncaned up my RG550 REAL good.

I guess by 'air' I mean it's got a clearer high end and the mids aren't as fat.

The output is in between a '59 and a JB, so it's perfect for going from distorted to cleaned up with the volume...
