Re: JS1600 to JS6....

I wonder if Rich would be willing to share some pictures of the end results with us. I would love to see the finished product.

Re: JS1600 to JS6....

I recently picked up a 1600. Great guitar. My concern would be the visual quality of the wood underneath. It would really suck to strip it down and have an ugly azz piece of mahogany underneath.

Re: JS6 re-oiled

It's hard to tell from the picture but the oil finish gets stained from the oils in your hand also it is not a very durable finish . the bridge set screws could not be adjusted due to corrosion etc..

Re: JS6 re-oiled

I thought that was a gouge also but it was a paint scuff. That came off with some 0000 steel wool. The blackened marks around the pickups where your fingers lay took sanding to clean that up. I...

Re: JS6 re-oiled

I finally got some before and after pics. I resanded this JS6 to clean up the grime spots and surface scratches then re-tung oiled the finish. Also I add all new hardware (controls, input jack,...

Re: JS Control Configuration

To have it constantly on is not uncommon. Most Strat mods have this. To me it is a waste of a push/pull switch. Makes more sense to have it coil tap.
I am making these mods on a JS6. I also changed...

JS Control Configuration

I was wondering how many people actually use the "high pass" feature on the volume control. Wouldn't it make better sense to just hardwire it to the volume control. I mean does it really make a...

Re: JS6 re-oiled

I should have before and after pics in a few days. I am having the frets leveled and crowned. I can do pretty much everthing else myself. I haven't had the chance to master that part of it yet. I...

Re: JS6 re-oiled

Good point. It will be a player in my collection. I found all the replacement parts at stewmac for about 100. I've seen other guitars fixed up and it didn't effect the vaule as long as you still have...

JS6 re-oiled

I recently picked up a JS6 that was in pretty good condition although it had dark stains where your right hand fingers would lay. It almost looks like the burn marks you get on hardwood floors where...

Re: JS Stratbanez

The neck was pretty much an exact fit, didn't have to adjust intonation at all.
All I had to adjust was the bridge height and adjust the truss rod.

Re: JS Stratbanez

Actually this guitar has locking tuners, the trem stays in tune about as well as a PRS. As long as you don't dive bomb it it works great.

JS Stratbanez

I recently picked up an JS-1 that had a replacement neck. The neck didn't feel quite right. It felt cheaper than the original JS1/1000 necks. I found that a Fender Strat neck fits perfectly. This...

Re: UK Pricing? Can someone please explain?

I feel the same way, it can be such a pain in the azz for both buyer and seller. Either you pay 250+ for UPS or FedEx or risk USPS and pray.
You end up shipping it then you get emails 2 weeks later...

Re: UK Pricing? Can someone please explain?

It all depends how cheap you want to go. USPS ground could take anywhere from 4 weeks to 4 months. Air Parcel Post 4-10 days. I guess it all depends on where your shipping from and to. I will agree...

Re: Changing strings

Check you trem and make sure is level with the top of the guitar. If the trem is not floating properly it will not return to 0.
Also I have found that cutting the ball ends off ensures that you will...

Re: UK Pricing? Can someone please explain?

USPS is the easiest way to ship internationally. And the cheapest. I shipped a guitar to Germany through UPS using the buyers UPS account and it still was a hassel. More paperwork than USPS.
I have...

Re: UK Pricing? Can someone please explain?

I see your point, it really adds up. I guess it's something we in the US never think about. We don't have to pay anything extra other than the additional cost of shipping due to the distance.
These...

UK Pricing? Can someone please explain?

I see this all the time when searching for a good used guitar. Are the price of guitars that much higher in the UK? The price is almost always double the US price for used equipment.
Who in there...
