As I'm slowly building my stomp box line up (usually use FX boards) I've got my clean sound sorted now which is what I spend most time playing, but now I need the all important distortion pedal :)
To give an idea what I'm looking for when it comes to distortion. Guitar sounds like Pantera...
Hey gang. I'm thinking of picking up another amp. My #1 is a Peavey JSX head through B52 Stealth series cab (Celestion V30 speakers). I typically only play it as a half stack, but have both the straight and slant cabs for those times when 4 12" speakers just aren't enough (or I'm feeling...
I thought it would be interesting to have a thread that's entirely dedicated to overdrive and distortion, in which you can share info about which pedals you prefer and why, how you've managed to get the sound you searched through the use of your pedals, etc. etc. It might be a cool thread...
Hey guys. I have been using the Boss metal zone with a practice amp for the last few months. It was a pedal I had left over from over a decade ago. My amp is only a small 30 watt solid state so nothing special. The problem is that the metal zone has become unreliable and I'd like to replace...
I thought this would be a funny thread. I just spent an hour trying to remember everything i had and what i still have. It's bad, i have a horrible memory. It runs in the family. Also, i have a large collection at my young age. However, i thought i'd be worth a few yucks if everyone shared a...
I currently have a Les Paul with a JB in the bridge and using a Marshall JCM2000 TSL for an amp. I love the amps overdrive when I am playing stuff like Tool, but now I need a pedal to get that good (actually lofi) industrial/goth distortion.
I dont like playing things in stores so I figure Ill...

I've agreed to join this guy's live band, and if he finds the remaining musicians he needs, I'll need a head (as most bands are ok with you borrowing cabs, but not heads). I imagine I probably won't be able to stretch further than about £250 (about $500). I'm mainly thinking of Line 6 Spider III...

I'm looking at buying a distortion pedal to use with my amp, and I was wondering if you guys could make some suggestions?
I fiddled around with a BOSS Metal Zone and liked the sounds, and I like the distortion on Laney or Mesa Boogie type amps.

Just wondering, if you would like to obtain a rhytm sound like this, what would you certainly get (pickup, (pre)amp, speaker, maybe even pick etc... wise) ?
My band is finally playing gigs and I now have to mike my amp. That changes everything! I had my sound prety much set and I like the way it sounds when I'm standing next to my amp but when I mike it it sounds harsh. (I placed the mic everywhere, off center, center, back of amp, etc..)
