one thing i've always wondered was the purpose of distortion/overdrive pedals for high gain tube amps. back in the day, these pedals were a necessity because amps did not have as much preamp gain. but nowadays, most high gain amps have ample gain.
take for example the jsx. this amp's...
This is a play-off from my last thread, "What are your favorite modulation pedals?"
I need suggestions for the best chorus, rotating speaker, and tremolo pedals. I would go try out a bunch, but my local guitar center only really carries Boss on Digitech.
They MUST be TRUE BYPASS and ANALOG...
Finding a good Chorus, Tremolo, or similar modulation pedal can be difficult. I myself am in the search right now for great vintage, true-bypass pedals of the two effects formerly mentioned. There are too many conflicting reviews! And most music stores don't carry anything but Boss. Screw that...
Do you prefer transistor amps, or tube equipped ones? I checked out the amp guide, but there was nothing there (I couldn't find anything when I did a search).
I know not much about this particular subject, so I thought I'd post this poll. Also, maybe it turns out as something interesting...
What do you think? Looks like a monster! Probably in every aspect. Take a look at the neck. Seems really thick.
Here are some videos too
Too bad there's no distortion in...
Just won this on the 'bay. I've been curious over all the fanned-fret bru-ha-ha going around, and since I basically sold every last electric I owned to finance a wedding that's no longer happening I figured that I would treat myself.
It's made by Michael Dolan. The body is mahogany and maple...
Here is a long video of an interview with somebody from Ibanez, about the new 8 string. They go on and on about it. It was recorded during NAMM 2007.
OK, am I alone in thinking that Kirk Hammett has terrible vibrato and technique? I was watching some Metallica DVDs the other day and thinking the guy just doesn't have a fluid approach to guitar period. His bends are pitchy and seems to have the hand strength of a 10 year old girl scout...
Just wanted to ask if anyone here in the forum has found themselves almost completely bored to death of shred guitar? Do you ever find yourself putting on your Vai, Satch, Dream Theater or other artists CD's in your players and after a few minutes just bored? The first time I felt that way was...
Hey there. I'm currently testing the waters on what my 8-string fanned fret design would go for, so I'm asking anyone if you know what custom-shops would take an order for a completely custom guitar.
Here is the design, by the way.
Just found out that the new Joe Satriani album "Super Colossal" is hitting the stores March 14. I'm looking forward to it :), but the cover reminds me a bit to much of the "Is There Love In Space?" album which was a nice album but not exactly the best.
Item for sale: Tons of backissues. My wife and I are doing early spring cleaning and most of these I never look at anymore. Time to find 'em a new home.
Description & Condition: Here's the breakdown of what I've got:
GFTPM - May 1989 Satriani cover, tabs of "Ice Nine", "Hot Dog and a Shake"...
I've got a simple question. Anybody know how to make those fannet frets. I wan't to make a nine string and I wanted to buy a license from Novax, but I live in Poland, so I can't buy it.
Anybody know how to count the right position of the frets and bridge.
