Alright folks. It was between either Engl and Mesa, and I've decided on Mesa because of the lead tone (I'm a lead player). I don't think anything can beat a Boogie for lead tone =)
Now, the problem is that there are so many options that I have no friggin' clue as to what to get. My options are...
I am a long time Ibanez player but I don't know anything about amps and pedal!
I got some budget now and I want to archived a pure death metal sound!
Typical sound are hard to describe ! the very very very very dry and aggressive tchak a tchak... of the 6 sting on muffing.
Seriously... Last week I got the craziest bout of GAS. I just wanted to buy something, I didn't particularly care what. I found myself, a lifelong strat player and tube snob, posting threads over at sevenstring.org asking for opinions on the Epi LP7's and the PodXT just for a late night...
so, with my government rebate, im finally buying a quality speaker cabinet like ive been talking about doing for awhile. got my dream metal guitar (S prestige), got one of my two dream metal amp heads(dual rec...the other one i dont have being a Soldano), the main piece missing is a top of the...
I tried one of the new Bugera amps yesterday, and was really surprised on how good it sounded.
Really great chicken picken sound on the clean channel.
Really impressed with the Lead Channel.
If any of you guys get a chance check them out.
i am looking to extend my tone and am thinking about running a maxon od9 with my engl powerball for lead tones. I was just wondering, will this make my sound 'transistory'? Or will it retain the smoothness and fullness of a valve amp? Does anyone have any views on the Maxon OD9? And i...
Basically I've got the XT live and I've got some killer sounds out of it, the thing is, it's damn bulky for the space that I've got it in, so I'm thinking I may pick up a regular pod of some variety.
A couple of questions:
1. Can I transfer my saved sounds without buying any new packs (or...
What do you guys think of Laney amps? How's their tone compare with say Mesa or Fender or Marshall etc.?
I was thinking of upgrading my Marshall AVT20 to a Laney LC15 or VC15, not really sure what the difference is. They've got a Laney LC15 for $400 at my shop, which I think is a STEAL
I don't know man. Maybe I have no taste in guitars. People have been telling me there's nothing like an American made Fender or Gibson. Don't know man. Owned an American Fender, and played MANY Les Pauls and flying V types. I went to this dude's house to pick up my Ghostrider, and he had...
I have been playing guitar for a while, and I am looking for a new amp (preferably tube amp) that sounds good.
For my current setup, I use the Ibanez RG 2550 Prestige guitar with stock pups, Digitech RP200 and BOSS MT-2 pedals. I sometimes use my Mexican-made Fender Stratocaster.
Well I have had this modellers:
VOX Tonelab SE (my favorite)
Pocket POD (still have it for practice)
I now have gone back to a real amp for live performance and CD recording... (JSX Head with Mesa 4x12 and stomp boxes).
While I liked especially the VOX (as it was sounding...
I have an ENGL powerball, and I was wondering if you have to use the ENGL Z-4 Footswitch for the Master Volume switching? Or can you use any generic footswitch that connects via a 1/4" jack? I have the Z-5 but in my bands current setup, I have no need to switch between 4 channels...
