I found this stamped as "JEM 505 BLK" neck, but this is rosewood and I've only found maple jem 505.
The headstock stamp seems legit but the jem decal in front seems weird.
Also, never seen that "MAY00" stamp before.
Hi, if luck turns my way I'm acquiring a black players condition Jem 505 with a non standard pickguard in few days (actually just before Steve Vai plays in Stockholm).
Now, I'll likely do a few things to it, namely changing pickups and pickguard and sanding of the paint/decal on the headstock...
So, hoping to have the money by the end of this month to fund a second JEM505, i'm curious to see if there is one available on the used market.
Based in Sheffield, UK - so UK sellers only please.
Can budget up to £600.
PM me on here or leave a message if you have anything available.
Are there any forums for the 505 ?
I got one and find it a great instrument for the money except for the tremolo which seems to be not that great on quality I haven't inspected it closely but I suspect the steel is less quality then the ones on the777 and the screw threads not precision cut...
I currently own a 1989 RG550 and are considering getting a JEM 505 and was wondering if any one out there has had playing time on both and could give me some insight on the differences (or similarities) of the necks. I love how thin my 550 is.
