Ok...sincerely, from the bottom of my heart, I'm not trying to be a troll or to start a flame war (though that could conceivably happen anyway, I will admit)...let's just get that out of the way from the start.
I seriously want to know everybody's response to this.
Here's the question...is...
I couldn't say that I've listened to a lot of his stuff, but ever since I bought "A Go Go" a long while back, I always been blown away by it. It's definitely in a league of its own as far as I'm concerned. I did buy a few of his other albums afterwards, but didn't think they were anywhere...
Does Allan Holdsworth do any sort of alternate picking runs? I have seen/heard about his amazing legato but have never heard about him doing any alternate picking. Any other players that mainly use a legato approach?
I´ve been playing thru tube amps for like 20 years but now I want to buy a digital thing to play with in my home only and I am totally lost in this new digital amp-world.
I have three favorites (don´t ask me why); Fender Cyber Deluxe, Line6 Spider III 75 and Line6 Flextone III.

Know what I mean?
For about the last 15 years I have heard country music fans (I am not one) say that Vince Gill is an incredible guitar player. They claim he is capable of SHREDDING with the best of em', but he just choses not to because it's not his style. Some say he is the best in the world. His wife (Amy...
So I've been playing for close to nine years and I seem to have picked up a bad habit in my right hand. I'm not sure how to explain it, but for any lead work that involves fast runs I kind of isolate all of the picking to the two fingers holding the pick, as opposed to making the picking come...
Anyone have any recomendations for some good acoustic tunes?
I've found myself reaching for my acoustic more and more lately, so I've been looking for some good inspiration.
I have quite a few Unplugged albums (Nirvana, Both Pearl Jams, AIC, Coldplay, Eric Clapton, Radiohead) but I'm looking for...
Today I dug out CAB by MacAlpine, Brunel, and Chambers and realized how much I like this type of music. However, I want something a bit smoother and more jazzier and not quite as shreddy. Can you make some recommendations?
