I've recently started teaching someone to play guitar. It got me thinking about the following; is talent is necessary to become a good guitarist? From both a purely technical and musical point of view?
Or is it so that if you don't have enough (or any) innate talent, you might as...
Ok...sincerely, from the bottom of my heart, I'm not trying to be a troll or to start a flame war (though that could conceivably happen anyway, I will admit)...let's just get that out of the way from the start.
I seriously want to know everybody's response to this.
Here's the question...is...
Anyone ever seen this? I'm "considering" it with my tele with my 25ca. I suspect there could be a cool factor to it. But it could go tragically the other way if it splits the body.
Anyone ever seen this done?
"Back in the day" we had the guys like Satch and Vai, and Nuno and George Lynch, plus guys like Scott Ian from Anthrax and the guys from Metallica and Megadeth.
Who are the guys that the 15 year olds want to grow up to be?
The UK guitar magazine try to convince us it's Trivium and...
He does the get out of my yard arpeggio's in it looks like standard tuning with complete cleanness which is insane, I've watched a few of his vids but he is pretty damn good.
I was just on the sweetwater forum and replied to a thread about influences and since this is my favorite forum by far I thought I would share my thoughts on this issue. Yes, I believe that Eddie Van Halen has gone off the deep end but thinking about it seriously, this is the guy who inspired me...
I was looking at Brian May's website the other day and he commented that after seeing Jeff Beck the night before he thought he might as well give up guitar!
It's interesting that someone whom I rate very highly as a guitarist and musician can still feel the same way as me when they see someone...
Lately I've been paying alot of attention to tone, and mostly in Rock guitar. I would really like to see some players you guys enjoy tone wise. I'm gonna list some, and I gotta say, the guy I HATE the most is Brad Gillis, worst guitar player ever, but anyway, here is my List of best tone in...
I might have finished mixing it... not sure. Opinions are needed. I have to move on from this song, so this might be the final mix, but it was done on headphones because it's some silly time in the morning here.
so i'm thinning out the herd a bit (mainly tele's) but these guys need to go.
first up is a Telecaster standard. maple fretboard. black finish, white pickguard. currently has some stickers on it but they are easily removed.
bridge pickup has been upgraded to a dimarzio super distortion tele...
Who do you guys think are responsible for MAJOR changes to rock
guitar playing, the guitar itself, etc. through the years??
1. Les paul-for inventing the electric guitar
2. Jim Marshall-obvious reasons..
2. Jimmy hendrix-for being really the 1st guy to play guitar that way.
Ok, here's the story. My daughters player guitar and bass. They have friends that "play" instruments. So one of them is moving, a drummer kid. And they have a party yesterday. Everyone was supposed to bring there guitars and amps and "jam". Except, pretty much all the kids that play guitar...
I realise that it's all down to opinion, but I thought it would be interesting to see who fellow Jemsiters think is the best guitarist ever.
My vote is for Steve Vai... ( I think he will be a popular choice:))
What do YOU think?
i was just wondering if anybody out there had a crazy story in which they picked up as killer ibanez guitar for dirt cheap. back in 2004 i went in this hole in the wall used guitar store and found an old purple ibanez rg770. it was laying in pieces in a dusty glass display case and i asked the...
people say hes a shred head... but the only "shred" ive heard him play is probably legato, and the occasional arpeggio (mystical potato head groove thing). is there any songs/videos in which he alternate picks? (or as most teenage guitar playing wannabes would say, Shreds?)
