Reamp that AxeII baby! Backing track has NO guitars except a little rhythm during The Hellion and main solo section. I overdubbed the Hellion's rhythm and harmony. All the other guitars are ONE performance. I used the re-amp feature via USB direct to Logic Pro 9. For those that saw my OD100...
  2. Players, Bands, Sounds, Tours, Lessons & Theory!
Got this backing track off the web with the original guitars gone (except solo rhythm and 1st bar after the solo). Suhr Modern, OD100se+, Aldrich pickups, Koko Boost, CAA 2x12" with V30's. E609, SM57 into Apogee Duet, Logic Pro 9. It was very difficult to keep in time because the drums are...
  3. Players, Bands, Sounds, Tours, Lessons & Theory!
Here's a cover of Rush's "The Spirit Of Radio" The band I play in did all the parts. Roy Nichol: drums, vocals, keys Don Lecompte: bass and I played guitar. AxeFx in direct. Flanger and wah is AxeFx. There are a few sync issues with my iMovie 11 editing..lol. The kick drum stutter near the end...
  4. Players, Bands, Sounds, Tours, Lessons & Theory!
I thought I'd introduce you guys to the musicians that do these backing tracks. I used a $135 Kodak HD Playtouch cam and iMovie11. My poor 4 yr old MacBook Pro got a little weary keeping up in 1080p, I had to do half then export it and start again with that file to be able to complete the...
  5. Players, Bands, Sounds, Tours, Lessons & Theory!
Here's Journey's "Chain Reaction". Same deal Roy Nichol on Vocals, Drums and Keys. Don Lecompte on Bass. I'm recording the guitar while shooting the video. Closeup shots are during the solo track. I used my LP with Suhr Aldrich pickups into my OD100se+ (Gain at 5, Master was set LOUD)...
  6. Players, Bands, Sounds, Tours, Lessons & Theory!
Good lord these pickups RAWK!!! Listen to the open chords after the first solo.... I never thought I'd see the day that I would like a passive pickup...the day has come! Thanks to my incredible band mates for putting the backing track together: Roy Nichol-All Vocals, Drums, Keys...
  7. Players, Bands, Sounds, Tours, Lessons & Theory!
Here's the same backing track by my band with me using the AxeFx. Mark
  8. Players, Bands, Sounds, Tours, Lessons & Theory!
I got the guys in my band to do the backing track for this. Roy Nichol doing the vocals, drums and midi stuff, Don Lecompte on bass. I'm playing guitar over the backing track that we created...no other guitars are present. This boy can sing!!! Mark
  9. Players, Bands, Sounds, Tours, Lessons & Theory!
and guitar and Koko boost. Man this one hurt my damn fingers trying to learn it. Crazy wide bends. Yes there are mistakes. Used a 57/Apex 435 into Logic 9/Apogee Duet. Mark
  10. Players, Bands, Sounds, Tours, Lessons & Theory!
Here's a clip I did today using my OD100se+ into a THD HotPlate. I went direct from that into my Duet and in Logic I inserted a Redwirez IR. Pretty cool to be able to silent record. THe HotPlate was set to load so I didn't have any cab sound at all. BTW this was a challenge post over at...
  11. Players, Bands, Sounds, Tours, Lessons & Theory!
Here ya go. Sorry about the mistakes I just learned this song last night. The backing track is from www.freshbt.com just bass, drums and vox on the BT, there is rhythm guitar during the solos and a few little fills here and there but what you hear is MY guitar with the Riot. I overdubbed the...
  12. Players, Bands, Sounds, Tours, Lessons & Theory!
Here's my attempt at recreating a TNT Ronni LeTekro type guitar tone on the AxeFx. Ronni uses a BOSS BF2 to get his tone. He sets it so it is like a notch filter or PEQ. Before you guys start getting on me about too much gain please download the preset and check the settings...the gains are set...
  13. Players, Bands, Sounds, Tours, Lessons & Theory!
Here are some much lower gain settings mixed with high gain stuff using one preset based on the Marsha HBE amp sim in the AxeFx. This is a very cool amp sim, thanks Dave Friedman and Cliff! Of course I'm using my Suhr Modern with AHB 3/AHB 1. Mark
  14. Players, Bands, Sounds, Tours, Lessons & Theory!
I know it's been done a million times, just wanted you guys to hear me play it with way less gain than I usually play it with....I promise. Some folks really hate the amount of gain I normally use. I have cut the gain at least in half. I have lowered the amp block's gain and the drive block...
  15. Players, Bands, Sounds, Tours, Lessons & Theory!
Got a killer deal on an Apogee Duet the other day so I picked up a brand new SM57 to go with it. This is just my rendition of the end solo in Comfortably Numb. I had the volume on the OD100se+ at a little better than bedroom volume but still quite low. Using Garageband, until I buy...
  16. Players, Bands, Sounds, Tours, Lessons & Theory!
I thought I'd celebrate by doing a video trying out my new camera. OD100se+, Koko boost, Suhr Modern, AHB3 Outta control gain with control :) Even has some clean :) Mark
  17. Players, Bands, Sounds, Tours, Lessons & Theory!
My Suhr Modern now equipped with an AHB 3 in the bridge into a Suhr Koko Boost then into my Suhr OD100se+...Randall 2x12". Recorded with an SM57 and Edirol R09-HR. I love this rig. Doing some 80's TNT, Ozzy, White Lion, etc. Video still being processed Mark
  18. Players, Bands, Sounds, Tours, Lessons & Theory!
Lots of clams and I already know I play it wrong Using my Suhr Modern with a recently installed AHB3 in the bridge into my AxeFx direct into ProTools. I love this guitar!!!! Mark Day
