I have a Music Man luke (demo model, still very new) with all plastic still intact. It has a special configuration with 2 EMG SLV, and an EMG 89 (the normal luke has EMG81). The bridge pickup is splittable to have a real strat sound. Its a super guitar, but unfortunately I play a lot with...

This is my Yamaha RGX Standard: Here's a video of me playing it, so you can see and hear it in action: It's a great guitar in its own right, but for me it's just the umpteenth Superstrat, and I want something different. So if I can make someone happy with it, who'll actually play it...

I am hell bent on getting me an Ibanez with a neck that has a profile true to the wizard/super wizard dimensions. In one of the other threads i have been informed that J-customs no longer really come with the dimensions that Ibanez advertises on their website. The neck should be 17mm at the...

from steve lukathers home page. Steve Lukather: "I would like to make a formal annoucement as I have been barraged by e-mails and speculations on various websites. The fact is yes I have left Toto. There is no more Toto. I told the guys before the last leg of our tour. We had some differences...

HH vs HSH? I do prefer HH over HSH config. Less cluttered, looks better, and IMO additional split tones are definitely not worth losing those sleek HH looks. And on a serious side, tones like split neck + middle s don't really have any real big advantage over split HH.

I suspect a bunch of us know, met, was in a room with, did work for, gave a lesson to, or jammed with someone notable/famous. I thought it would be fun to have a thread dedicated to the purpose of 'bragging' about it. ;) This could be fun to watch. I'll go first. I know the Fuel guys...

All myth aside, based purely on his music, what do you think of buckethead? Personally i think he's great :D his music's insane and really fun to listen to and i think it's great that thanks to guitar hero he's become known for his own stuff rather than his association with.....AXL ROSE :O DUN...

I have to admit that i didn't like Steve Lukather in the past. But now, as i'm growing older :) and out of my shredding phase :) i digg his playing very much. And he's got that big, airy, non-dry sound, at least on newer records i heard. I'm wondering what amps he uses? Or is his sound that way...

Hey folks, I'm researching for my first tube amp to buy. The problem is, all amps i hear - even the most hyped and loved ones - sound more or less dry and crumbly. I have a problem to find an amp that sounds full, wet, munchy, juicy and can scream at the same time. Think about wet crunch, if...

Hey! I have two Ibanez RG Prestige basswood guitars that I love to play but... they sound completely different. This is not a problem of pickups or whatever kind of gear. I am talking about the "unplugged" sound of the guitars. The first one is a RG 2620 with an amazing sound: highs and lows...

WOW Bloody WOW DT were on their Game last night, because they sounded amazing. It was like listening to the CD. The sound guys had it perfect, cause it wasn't to loud, unlike some other heavy metal bands Iv seen in the past. Dare I say near perfection, not one mistake, and the atmosphere was...

It kills me to see that none of the very well known guitar virtuosos started their carreers not too long ago. Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Paul Gilbert, Greg Howe, Tony Macalpine, Richie Kotzen, Allan Holdsworth, Jimmy Page, Reb Beach.... etc all started 2 or 3 decades ago. IMO the newer guitarists...

For a long time, I've been trying to figure out which amp to get, so let's look at the detail below. I am definitely more of a metal kind of guy, but lead stuff is what I really want to concentrate on; so far, I've been looking into something from Boogie or Engl and I don't know what to get...
