He's asking way too much. I have an original 1990 Universe UV7PWH signed by Steve Vai as well which is more desirable than this JEM and while it is very valuable I wouldn't expect to get $15000 for it. What do you think about this Blinding Rock Mirror for this price? I love this guitar but I have never seen one in players condition in particular at anywhere near this seller's price :surprise:

P.S. Not sure if Vai himself decided to sign it where he did or the owner asked him to but I'd be worried that his coveted signature would be wiped away by playing the guitar in the sitting position! If I had it I'd clear coat it to ensure it's protected from that ever happening.

Maybe he added an extra digit and it's supposed to be $1500, lol. Horrible autograph placement 4 sure, will rub off on your leg and doesn't display well. Whats with the PIA catalog page in the pictures too? a bizarre listing for sure...

Someone trie's to find a fool (-:. Maybe it will work, but i don,t think. The autograph isn't much worth, 'cause there are many outside. I have the Certificate of my DNA signed by Steve, but i don't think this will increase pricing.

Hmmmm, while the autograph looks correct(at least compared to the 2 I have from Steve), it is an odd place. Another thing that confuses me is that the neck has no scallop on the last 4 frets. I sold my Bad Horsie so long ago, I can't remember, but I thought ALL Jem's had that feature in common? Certainly agree its way overpriced

I don't think JEM's that have dot inlays come with scalloped frets because my JEM505WH has dot inlays and doesn't have scalloped frets from 21-24. Someone can confirm this

Yeah $1500 is much more reasonable lol but I doubt it. It seems like this person is comparing new JEM/PIA prices and then goes and increases his price 10 fold anyway? Lol. As for the signature placement yeah it's worrisome.

Something suspect about that autograph placing ! What a nonsensical place to put it. I doubt Steve would "suggest" signing there !
That's what I was thinking! Either the front of the guitar behind the bridge or the back of the headstock are good places. He signed my UV7 at the back of its headstock. Perfect place! Safe and sound and displays well too! :)

Steve's signature is worth something for sure. Pricing increases on signed guitars.

On an original 777LG it is, but otherwise i'm not sure this is the case. If there were 2 mint guitars but one was signed it'd be less valuable (at least to me) as it's been altered after the original purchase, not to mention Steve's signed thousands of JEM/UVs by now.

The 77BRMR guitars do not have scalloped frets. I have two. I have one player that I gig with which I bought with some light wear and a few minor dings on the back that I paid $1600 for, and the other is close to mint/collector condition...and I only paid $2000 for that one. So, even with an autograph, the price is pretty outrageous I'd say, even as rare as they are getting. That one seems to have more wear than my "player" BRMR...for $15000????? Maybe just putting it out there to attract some offers by someone not 100% set on selling?

I suppose you could argue your POV but I say even with two mint guitars where Steve signed one, I'd grab that one. He held it, probably played it even if only just one note, felt proud it was his guitar that is going to bring another player and fan limitless satisfaction and then put his signature on it. To a big fan in particular that's worth more than money. It's the emotional value and impact of it. That's how I feel about my UV7 he signed. It's epic. Yeah he's signed plenty over the years but how often do you find one among your own friends, etc? It's rare and special.

Yeah so this means my theory that JEMs with dot inlays don't have scalloped fretboards is true. Other owners can chime in on this as I'm not 100 percent sure but since your BRMR and my 505WH don't have scallops it makes sense.

The prices you paid for yours make much more sense too and you should be able to get more than he would just based on condition. Attracting attention with that high price just to get offers then not actually make a sale in the end? Sounds absurd to me but hey, who knows lol.

I think the JEM 7RB is the one that ruins your theory. A full MIJ JEM with dots and scalloped last 4 frets.
One of the rarer ones though!
