Hi Dave,
I picked up your CD last week at the clinic. Thanks again for having that. You reminded me of some of the things that I've been neglecting with my practice and playing.

It was also so nice that the one who drove the farthest to see you won the guitar. Some things are right in this world.

So I've got the CD and I'm wanting more. Any idea when a 2nd is coming?

I enjoyed ''Shove The Sun Aside''.
You can here some Vai style in some songs;)

I'd expect most of us (myself included) would look for Vai influences in Dave's material.
However some of the things I like the best are tones and textures that Dave's using that I'm not hearing in Vai's style. Such as his incorporation of cleaner strat tones, both bright and with the trebble rolled off. Also changes in music theme throughout the songs are unexpected, and I listen to a lot of Vai (older stuff). I find STSA dynamic and interesting.

Dave - Will your process with this CD change now that you are with Favored Nations?
And how will it change based on what you've learned since the 1st CD?

(Feel like I'm doing an interview now.)

FN (or any label) won't affect anything about this next cd. I may be releasing it independantly again. Like STSA, I'll record it myself, to my liking. If a label wants to pick it up for distribution, then I'll consider it.

The good news about the new cd is that it will take about 1/3 the time STSA took b/c now, I actually know what I'm doing!

I can tell you this.. and this may seem a bold statement. But this new cd is going to make STSA seem like child's play. The stuff that I'm gathering for it is just sick. I really wish I could stop everything else I'm doing and get it done, but I've got other projects in the works that are coming out first. But, I just wanted to plant that seed that you guys have something (that I consider) sick to look forward to!

Aw man! You really know how to keep us in suspense! At some point, you'l have to put up some snippets on daveweiner.com just to tide us over 'til 2007. That seems like such a long way away.

Glad to hear it Dave!! I'm certainly looking forward to hearing some more fresh tunage!! You did great work on STSA, and expect you'll no doubt top yourself! You've got nothing to prove, just lay down those killer grooves, and it's gonna ROCK!

HMMMM! Better than STSA? This is going to be one sick CD! Their should be a law against this type of talent. How are the rest of us suppose to have a chance with dudes like you out there! You go boy, can't wait to hear it! And don't forget some perviews would be nice.
