Here's the switching diagram for switching.

Very versatile but one too many options to remember for me.

ive got a 1527 and i dont really use many of the switching options, its either neck hummy, bridge hummy or position 4, the one thats kinda "bridge single coil" sounding, thats sooo sweet when u play clean! other than that, i dont bother playin about with it!
i have an 8527 and i'm thining of new wiring for it.. i wanna do 2 dual concentric pots vol and tone for each pickup. then add a mini switch for coil tap of the pickups with only a 3 way tele switch. i do a lot of swtiching between high volume and tone for the bridge and mid to low volume with tone backed off a bit on the neck. and i would like a lot of the single coil sound in my cleans. the way a standard rg is wired, it's just not feasible to change all that stuff quickly..
Position 4 is actually the strat "in between" sound, basically the middle and bridge, out of phase (in this case, neck single and middle single, out of phase).

It's worth noting that the middle position, both hums in parallel, is one of the ebst rhythm tones I've ever heard - it's a total john petrucci sound, plenty of depth but tons of clarity.

i simply love that double-bucker-split-petrucci-setting.. sa-weeeet sound if you add some chorus...
