Don't you mean it's a 540R LTD ;) ? Looking forward to seeing this develop.

I think I know of the seller - does Jem and other style bodies too, right?

sigh I should probably do something like this eventually, only way of getting an R that isn't $$, and a project is always more fun. Almost bought an EDR260, which is like a poor person's 442R.

Just had this built by a guy I found on eBay! $150 shipped! It's a fusion of an RG and a JS body. 2 peice alder body... Comes with cavity covers 😎🤘.

If that's by Serge Fidar in Belarus, I'll add that I was very pleased with the body I bought from him. He made my PIA-style body, and he was a pleasure to do business with. He actually made one from scratch, similar to one he had for sale but slightly different specs and a lightweight piece of wood. Really nice guy, more than fair prices.

It looks close to a 540RLTD but I saw a JS body he had on there and asked him to make it the way you see it... So the horns may be a little thinner like the JS. I won't know until I get it.

One of my R540LTD's back in the day had the AANJ, and it was the coolest thing ever!
I still have one of those -- only made for one year. I put a JS neck on it but still have the LTD neck if I decided to swap it back. The necks on those weren't regular R necks but were closer to a Wizard which didn't really fit the more traditional stratty feel of a Radius.

For some reason, I don't play that one as much as my other 540Rs that have the regular R heel, as I've gotten very used to that design and barely notice the difference.

Well it arrived 2 days ago! Here are some pics. Comparatively the shape is more like a 540r than a Satriani body, which I like. The horns are a bit beefier like a radius and the way the face of the guitar drops of where your forearm lays is like the R guitars.
The guy does phenomenal work. This should be easy to work with. The next time I put strings on one of my radius guitars I am going to pop the neck off and see how it fits in the pocket.

Don't laugh, well ok, maybe laugh a little, but I've always wondered about the timber in Belarus (where Serge is at), I always remember studying Chernobyl stuff growing up and they always said that the fallout almost went entirely into Belarus; anyone got a geiger counter to see if that stuff is hot? I'm sure there are areas of forest that are off limits, I've read that as well...I'd be curious to know how hot the Belarus' timber is, but I digress. Looks like a potentially awesome build, I'm a huge fan of Radius models, I go between J.Custom RG's and Radius models, so this definitely has my interest piqued.

That's a little sketchy man! But nah I am not too worried about that sort of thing. They are far enough away for me.

The tiny cavity on the back of this thing may be a little more tedious to work with. Typically I like to have a versatile circuit, I have no idea just yet what type of circuit I will be dreaming up for this guitar... Each of the 3 radius style guitars that I have already have their own unique circuit. Though this will have direct mount pickups! So that already makes this particular radius style guitar diffferent. I'm also still thinking about a finish on this thing... I am leaning towards a black cherry burst, roasted maple neck and fingerboard, white fret makers, stainless 6150 frets... (a little taller and wider than I am used to) With Frosted chrome hardware. I am thinking about Soda blasting a new chrome Lo Pro... I have to test the idea on some chrome hardware to see if it will work. I don't want to ruin such an expensive bridge.

These sound like great plans. You may have already said this, but where do you plan to get the neck? You seem to be choosing specs, so are you going to build or have one built? I'm assuming a Warmoth neck would fit just fine, like it does on my JS1200 body, but do you have another supplier in mind?

Alright, I've got one body by Serge, with another in the works, so I'm just going to choose to believe that any radioactivity is within tolerable limits. At least I've already had my children, so fertility won't be a concern as I play the guitar!

I have been using bestguitarparts.com

They make a better neck IMO. the cost is about the same, I don't have to have a tilt back headstock unlike warmoth. And warmoth's standard thin C shape isn't to my liking. The build I like is a D shape with a thickness of 800 at the nut and about 890 high up. And the headstock shape they have looks great with the radius body.

Those do look cool. I wasn't familiar with them, will have to check out the options, thanks for the link.

Almost certainly is, and even then, Serge may be sourcing the timber from anywhere in the world, so who really knows. I guess it just reminded me of all the testing of raw materials from Japan, when Fukushima hit :D
