Sense. This makes none.

My point is just that a cheap guitar with crappy specs doesn't really get any better for adding a 1mm maple veneer and a price hike.
Well that one went right over your head then :(. I was, by analogy, simply agreeing with your point. In that, due to the public consensus that animal fur is bad, no wants the fur coat that you mentioned anyway...

Here we go again.....

I really wasn't looking for opinions on $300 guitars guys...I just wanted to know if anyone has put their hands on one.....
by the way, because GB brought it up, I have a '89 peavey tracer w/maple fretboard (the back of the neck is sanded to 220 grit and t.oiled, profile is close to a wizzard II) it has a kahler 2700 trem and I put a F2 and 2 C1s in it and that guitar SMOKES...I have about $150 in it w/hard shell case.
No they don't have good resale value, but as me and GB have discussed "cheap guitars vs. expensive guitars" to death in a discussion about 8 months ago, I have to, again, defend the "cheap" guitar. If I have to swap pickups and spend some time on getting a good setup, I'm VERY cool with that....

Would/could someone please just answer the question at hand and it wasn't
"What's your opinion on the quality of these guitars?".......;)

The reason I'm looking at these is that I play at church and I want something I can leave there
and not worry about someone breaking in and getting one of my nice ibbys.
Plus, I was looking for something different than a ibanez.
No, I don't want to keep the tracer there either.......

I've played one before and had some decent fun with it. I even got the Mock floyd rose to flutter little! The neck I thought was a little thicker than I prefer, more like a strat or tele neck. I think it's a safe purchase, but I still wouldn't do it just because it's chinese made. HOWEVER, you can buy a USA made mid 90's peavey predator for dirt cheap, below $200

MANY THANKS to you and the other guys who actually tried to answer my question!!!
I mean "It's chinese crap!!!" tells me nothing about the way it plays.....lol
Do you know if any of the early predators had floating trems? I haven't seen one....
If it was a little cheaper, guitar center has a koa peavey impact I, but $700 is a little much.
I bet that's a rare pup....

you're welcome :)

yea no floating trems in the 90's, though I believe the late 80's predators had kahlers, but that's a little old... May end up spending more time fixing it than playing it. but if you do it right you can go a long way with a vintage trem too. I have a washburn x-33 with a vintage trem and i dive bomb the hell out of it. just gotta mess with the screws and stuff. But anyway i'm probably just beating a dead horse, honestly for what you need it for it's sounds like the newer predator would be just fine. New, fairly cheap, and pretty reliable. Chinese stuff really isn't all bad, my reservation for it is mostly just out of spite, not really bad experience.
