Inspired by @JsXLine6 and his new build thread, I'm staring something new, too! Spent a lot of time this week planning, considering many alternatives, and sourcing parts. I love every minute of this process. I'll harvest some parts from two guitars that I'll then be parting out for sale, and most of the rest has been ordered. It'll be a while until this comes together.

The heart of this will be a JS style body made by Serge Fidar. I love the JS/radius body contours, and Serge will use poplar to aim for light weight, which is important for me. I'm not a fan of Joe's preferred square heel or the more strat-like neck specs that he likes (profile, radius, frets). Instead, Serge will build the body with an AANJ to accept a modern RG neck. I've ordered an RG1070 11-piece neck with SS frets.

I'm hoping this will become a best-of-both worlds build--JS body + RG neck--with respect to my own tastes.

Sounds like a solid build plan! Looking forward to pics when she's done 👍 Also agree with the move to have a JS body guitar with an RG neck with AANJ, that should be awesome. Are you sourcing the neck from somewhere specific or ???
I found an RG1070 neck for sale, listed as new and the pics show it's in great shape. I actually have another neck from the same model, and it's the best feeling neck I've ever played. I used it on my PIA style build in 2021. I had to deal with fret sprout come wintertime, which was easy enough, and other than that it's been just perfect from the start. I've got my fingers crossed that this one will be as good. I know that Premium-level quality control isn't the best and some inconsistency can be expected, but I'm hopeful that any issues will be minor and within my skillset to address.

Will definitely post some pics as this comes together.
