So... I go to look at a UV1000 case that I had stored underneath my bed...

And I see that I'd somehow left it popped open.

And some damned mouse creature have seen fit to POOP inside of said case. The guitar inside of the case seems okay. But I'm just wondering the best way to disinfect the case and clean the guitar stored therein.

Any thoughts are much appreciated. It's creeping me out more than a little bit. And it's an awesome guitar, to say the very least.

I really don't know what I would do. I'm kinda with Cosmic on that one. LOL

Ozone is one method they use to get rid of odors. It dissolves organics. Powerful oxidizer.

I figure I'll just buy the Lysol Febreeze-ish stuff OR just wipe it with peroxide. I just really do not want to discolor it.

I guess I'll test it in the compartment first.

Hi,

It may sound crazy, but try apple vinegar. You can clean almost ANYTHING with apple vinegar, and it does away with any smells, even cat piss. I'd try that before going chemical.

You don't want to just mask the smell...you want to disinfect that.
Rodent turds are a known source of what is called Hantavirus.
Might want to look that up...just be careful.

Great point, but not all rodents carry it. Still--better safe than sorry?

I use spray can carpet cleaner on cases that need cleaning when I get them.
I use a scrub brush too.
