For the first time in my life i have just fully blocked the tremolo on my 7 string Ibby.

Was tempted to buy another fixed bridge Ibanez to go along with my floating one.

Whats the opinion of you guys on blocking floyds vs having a fixed bridge? Curious to hear what opinions you all have.

I like fixed bridges best, The Fireman I built from Perle is a fixed string through....but I have blocked my RG trems. If its a TRS you can take the screws out that tighted the blocks that pinch and hold the strings into the saddle (IDK what you guys call them) and string it through those holes so its basically a top loader. It makes changing strings way easier since you don't have to clip the balls off the strings.

For a floyd there's a (to me) big chunk of wood cut out of the body.

I don't have 2 guitars identical to prove but seems as lesser wood under the pickups, mid.s tend to jump out more (think dynamically more than tonally, though many would describe it as tone). I don't have the experience to tell if type of wood matters in this case but my guess is it wouldn't.

Less jumpy mid.s to me is like preferable on fluid approach to playing like fast-shred scales, sweep or when clean simply chord arpeggios. When I say jump basicly think fender-ish traditional music.

But of course this is only an opinion I have and must try yourself

I have blocked bridges on 7 of my Ibanez's.... Great for drop tuning, I don't see an issue with it....,plus can return it to full floating at any time by removing the block.

Depends on your playing style, what you play and whether you like a floating/locking trem. Alot of people have a downer on locking trems and, yes, they can be a pain sometimes but its all about how comfortable you feel with it and whether you can live with the down sides to a floyd.

I find that i DO enjoy the floyd and find it comfortable to play, but i actually do have OCD and a penchant for adjusting and modding my guitars. Hence with my floating bridge i find myself spending more time adjusting things and tuning etc than actually playing!!
