I've heard a lot about this but luckily in my 20 odd years of owning Ibanez never experienced it.

A friend of mine however, has a 1527 with an edge pro 7 trem. He's getting some instability on the bass side and the middle knife edge of the bass side of the trem appears to be a little chipped. Could also be blunted from good use.

Could this small issue with a knife edge be the source of instability issues or is this likely to be something else?
If it is the cause, is it easy enough to fix?

The bit that worries me slightly is attempting to sharpen metal that is already slightly damaged and worn (other stuff could break off) and if this does happen and small chips cause big problems, it's likely to kill the trem completely.

Cheers for any advice.
