ok so it doesnt exist at the moment but i have the an empty 5u rack to fill. I got about a £1k.

I own pod pro already and have been looking at the following things.

Preamps considered are:
JMP-1
Digitech 2120
Sansamp stuff

Effects:
Rocktron
G Major

Volumes are an issue so i was looking at perhaps a marshall 20/20 power amp?

I cant decide what speaker cab to get, possibly a 4x10 or 2x12 or even two 1x12 stacked?

Should i just get a cab or forget it all and stick the pod pro --> behringer desk --> samson studio amp --> monitors setup that i currently have. Is this just GAS to ride out???

Help guys I have never done this before; my guitars are jems, lps, sgs, strats; lol

First time posting here in a long while :)

Pre-amps: Try the ADA MP (1 or 2) they're awesome, I had one for a while and it was a great bit of kit.

Power amps: I had a marshall 20/20 which was plenty lound enough, and good and simple. That was pushing a stereo wires 2x12.

Effects: The G major is a GREAT bit of kit, and worth every penny. Especially good for time based effects.
I'd stick with a 2x12 if I were you, its still plenty loud enough, and yet at the same time its still nice and light to move around for gigs and portability. If you are looking a good cabinet, look at the Cornford or a Mesa 2x12. I use a Marshall 1936 2x12 cabinet, and I think its great.

I am a big fan of the JMP-1 personally. You can get some lovely sounds from it, its a great piece of kit. As for the effects, the G-Major is very good obviously, loads of people like it on these boards.

If I were you, I would stick with the Pod Pro (its still a great piece of kit), and just get a good cabinet 2x12 to go with it, then a nice power amp of some sort.
Here is a killer setup on the cheap:

Peterson Strobostomp tuner (optional but, I recommend over a rack tuner if you're going to get a tuner)
Furman (or other brand) power conditioner
Marshall JMP-1 preamp
Rocktron Xpression effects
Rocktron Velocity 120 power amp

Find a good sounding (to your ears) 2X12 and you're done!
2x12 is much easier to move than a 4x12. Plus most cars these days will barely fit a 4x12 in the trunk, if you are even lucky enough to fit it in there at all!
What kind of music do you play?

If its 80's metal/shred, get an ADA MP1 Pre
If its more modern rock get a JMP-1
If its more modern metal get an ENGL E530 (it can do a LOT more than that though, its got great cleans and crunch)

For a poweramp, I would say Mesa 20/20 or Carvin TS100

For effects, if you just need delay, reverb and chorus, I'd get a Rocktron Intellifex. Veru transparent and very good units. If you want more effects, get a TC Electronics G Major or Rocktron Xpression
