Can someone tell me what the values are of the capacitors used in RG's? (RG7-6xx, RG7-4xx)

The capacitor on the volume pot has the number 331 stamped on it, the capacitor on the tone pot has the number 223. Are those special codes to indicate the mf's? If so, what's the exact value of those capacitors (in mf :) )?

Thanks,
Joten

I believe I read somwhere that the tone capacitor value is 33nF (0.033ìF) on a strat with 500k tone pots.

Capacitors used in RG's

Kevan, BTW, it's from that wiring scheme that I got those numbers...

So my question is: are those numbers capacitor values or just capacitor codes from the manufacturer?
If they are capacitor values, how must I interpret them?

Normal capacitor values (as used in guitars) are the following:
.001mf, .020mf, .050mf, .100mf,...
I cannot see any resemblance with 331 and 223. I think 33,1 nf and 22,3 nf? (0,0331 mf and 0,0223 mf) But I'm not sure.

Anyone?

Cheers,
Joten

Yep, the capacitor values in the wiring diagrams are pretty much worthless as long as they don't indicate the measuring units. 331 and 223 is definetly the values. 331 is most likely 331nF or 33nF.

Just take a chance and put one in. Then you can tell us what is correct afterwards :)

I finally know the exact value of the capacitors used in RG's.
The volume capacitor (labeled 331) has a value of 331 pico Farad
The tone capacitor (223J) has a value of 0,022 micro Farad
