My best friend since pre-school is going to grad school at Roosevelt University in downtown Chicago. He is just starting to look for a place to live and needs some help. I know Chicago... but only places to visit, not live. His school is at 430 S. Michigan Ave, so he wants to be either near there, or at least a reasonable distance (and near an L stop, etc).
If you could, let me know some good areas to look for apartments (and areas to avoid, even though most of those are pretty obvious). He'll be looking for a studio or 1 bedroom, under $1k/month preferred.
