[Conflicted]

I'm a sucker for a natural looking mahogany or similar wood, and I want a slim S-type body.

I really like the look of this particular S570, and am wondering if I could find something similar in an HSS 22 fret setup. I'd strongly prefer an ebony fretboard if I can be choosy. Gold hardware need not apply. Did an HSS S540 ever come in this finish? Do any come with ebony?

I've been reading and researching, but thought I'd just ask the experts. I don't mind spending a little money if I can get close to what I want, and I'd be happy with an older model, new Prestige, etc.

Agreed, I don’t think the production line S series have ever had ebony fretboards. That said the HSS 22 fret models do date from a time when the rosewood they did use was much darker in colour than what is typically used today.

There's also the 440S, but this one had gloss solid colours and Ibanez oem pups. Bit harder to find though.

Afaik, there hasn't been a HSS S for quite a long time , so you'd have to look for an oldie.

If you can live with a rosewood fretboard, look for a used AT200. That is pretty close.

Thanks again. After my question, I made the mistake of looking at a bunch of other threads. Now I want something floral, or with a Vine of Life, or both...I should probably just log out.
