Is there any way to moisturize or lubricate a neck? Sounds strange I know just can't think of any better words to describe it. Anyone else experienced this? Same goes for a maple fretboard. Is there a way to treat them?

Bore oil is what is on Music Man guitars, at least the Axis, you can find it at sports stores in the gun department, around $5-$7 for a bottle if I remember right. You'll want to make sure the surface you are using it on is clean, it's almost a finish type product.

I usually use lemon oil on rosewood, there are also tons of fret conditioner products, but if you check the ingredients, they are usually similar to what you can find at department stores for furniture conditioning, just repackaged for guitars and cost alot more.

Tung oil is actually a finish, I use it on guitar bodies sometimes. It's not something that you want to put on your fretboard repeatedly, it will build up. It's great for the back of unfinished necks, puts a protective finish on but you can still feel the wood. Do look for 100% Tung Oil, the Formbys and similar that they sell at Home Depot, etc... is thinned with petroleum products. It works okay, but it's not as good as the real thing.

<$0.02,

Thanks for the correction Rich, it's been one of those days, started off by having to clean coffee out of my truck before I left for work, and yes, it was in a travel mug... Maybe I should just lay low today, DOH!
