Hi all. New to the site but yet to post an introduction. Will do for my next post though.
I have just stripped and rebuilt an S series Ibanez fitted with what I believe is an Edge Zero 2 tremolo. There is plenty on the web about changing strings and setting intonation etc but I can't find anything covering initial setup after fitting/refitting a mechanism. Removing and cleaning up the mech will have obviously thrown out most of the original settings so I would like some info on fitting of the tremolo and any rough adjustment that should be done prior to stringing. Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Hello all and sorry to hijack your topic Koolkatz and to dig up and oldie but there are a lot of posts on this and figured I would recycle instead of creating another.

This is my first post and was great to find this place. I been a hobbyist for about thirty years and my first real working guitar with all its parts is an Ibanez and I am happy to say I still own it and will post a picture in thr future as I am curious if anyone could give me imfo on it.

Ok so my issues with the Edge II Zero is that after two weeks of owning this guitar (S570ah) I am looking for help on keeping this in tune. The issue is its going out of tune at first sharp but now goes flat after tinkering more by Not even using it. Just tuning going from strings 1 to 6, 2nd, to 5th and so on also trying in order 1st-6th. By the time I complete the process lately its strings 4 to 6 that go flat when I finish {prior to last nights work all would go sharp}. At first it was strings 1 to 3.

Reminds me of a tire with a slow leak. I will strum a few chords without any bends or even touching the trem they go out. I have strung it up twice making sure its seated correctly. But I am at a loss hence why I been searching for help.

I set it up in E standard then tried Eb to see if less pull or tension helped but went back to E as it made no difference. The only thing I notice that is different compare to my 550dx edge is that on the zero 2 the fine tuning screws go through the bottom of the bridge so it pulls or opens the gap so you don't see the tips of screws. The Edge is more like a floyd where you can see the tips and how far they're in. Tough to explain but if you own or are familiar with both you may understand.

My experiences with locking trems are the Edge on my Genesis rg550dx {flawless and favorite trem of all time) and and my jackson/ charvel with floyd 5k or 1k I forget what they call it bit its not the special.

Thank you all I'm hoping I can straighten this out.

well I have the same guitar and had the same problem. I discovered the nut mounting screws weren’t snug. I also replaced the trem springs. It stays in tune now.

I did strip one of the saddle adjustment screws doing the intonation. But it stripped where it was already adjusted in tune. So next time I have the trem out of the body, I will cut as little slot in the head and turn it out with a screwdriver. Ibanez set me a set of six new screws.

Just be careful they are really soft.
