Which is preferred, and why?

haha try living in Australia then, RRP for both the EGEN and JEM for 2009 is $6295, which would put street price still around the $4800-$5000 mark. Although the chance to pick up old stock at a better price still exists.

Im puttin my vote in for the Zero. Ive been beating the crap outta mine for a week and its taken it all and come back in tune. Now how it will last in the long run well that remains to be seen but for now its workin just fine for me.

I was wondering if you guys ever use both of em before instead of "Oh well... I'll vote edge pro cos I got one and using it and it's real good" but happen to not tried the edge zero. I didn't vote cos I've never tried edge zero....

It is too early to say, really.
It needs much more time and playing to be properly evaluated.

So easy to be against new things just based on being more used to the old version.

Excluding the EDGE Zero (I have not used it enough yet) are the EDGE Pro the best tremolo Ibanez have done, in my opinion.
The EDGE, Low Pro EDGE and EDGE Pro all stay in tune the same, but the EDGE Pro last longer (in my opinion, again).

In free floating the EZ is more pliable than even the Edge. It's most likely the 2 weaker very open springs that make it feel very spongy when using the bar. I have no issues with it's stability in free float at all, but several issues with other aspects of it.

What I like about the EZ on my Jcustom is
a) It Does stay in tune period.
and b) You can hold a bend without having the other strings go flat -which makes a great trem on its own.
As for comfort i kinda prefer the edge on my RG750.
But Rich tell someone to make decent fine tuners so we can replace the rediculous ones that are in place now. That's my only issue. By the way i only use it in free float.

i remember some polls like this some years ago, "Edge vs. EdgePro" and almost all the people were like "EdgePro is super cr*p!". and now it magically turned out to be even better than the almighty original Edge.

i can see some years in future, when Ibanez will put out a new trem, say, the UltraEdge, and i can bet the poll "EdgeZero vs. UltraEdge" will be reading plenty of comments like "the EdgeZero is the best trem Ibanez ever made, f*ck the UltraEdge!"... bah

I am not a huge whammy guy, although I do some dives and pulls, flutters, and vibrato with it. Playing on both (neither I currently own) for the limited time that I have, I really was more concerned about palm comfortablity. But slamming on them they both were fine to me. So past that, would be more the quality of either unit, and I am not one to comment on that. But the intonation tool is a cool idea, and I agree with above, when are they going to come up with better fine tuners?

my 2570 has the Edge Zero, I've had it for close to 2 years now and it has performed flawlessly. I use 09's and play in standard E tuning. I do a fair bit of dives, pulls and flutters and I gotta say this guitar just refuses to go out of tune. I'm tuning my fixed bridge guitars all the time, but I can play for days without tuning my 2570. It always suprprises me when I DO go to tune it and everything is bang on or needs just a slight tweek with the fine tuners. I may be in the minority but I love the Edge Zero.

I have a RG2550Z Prestige

I've have to say i do find the Edge Zero a bit difficult to do pull ups with, especially harmonic scream's. I haven't tried the Edge Pro but what is the main diferance between them?

There both Knife Edge and floating
