I have a JEM that’s a fake. Seems like we should be able to verify & report with manufacturer? Anyway, here’s my method based on build you can easily verify. The handle doesn’t have aggressive point cut; more smooth & rounded. The truss Rod cover is 3 ply(?), & not as tall by 1/4 inch. The pick guard is smaller in size, & only contains 9, not 10 primary screws.It’s an alledged 08 Team J Craft, Japan. Perhaps the neck pocket to body contact is short,& bolt placement off, due to ? Somewhat smaller body dimension? Needless, all else is perfect, except fret job I wouldn’t expect from a Japanese guitar. Another possible quick clue? Hopefully these points help someone. Thanks for all you patrolling the fakes,& helping others with the little things. I got an awesome player for $450 I guess, but think fake things should be stopped.

I didn’t post pics, as someone has a nice photo fake JEM site. It’s very helpful. I just wanted to share that the fakes are almost perfect, just very subtle things do stand out to a trained eye. A Les Paul, is too difficult for me without deep inspection, so said, got a schooling in the fake JEM world. The truss Rod cover height, & material are a sign. Pick guard cover size,& number of screws, note placement are fake standouts!!! The fret finish,& inlays at last 4-5 frets also should be CLEANLY done. Anything less than this being perfect are sadly fake. Ibanez,& a Japanese built guitar should be flawless I build. The hand grip does need to have more point too grip, NOT smooth points in grip. The neck mount to body on mine was ok for a 2008 guitar, but seriously, if you’re buying an Ibanez, perfection is only acceptable. NO Exceptions; walk away!!! Also noteworthy for potential buyers, is the case. Does it say Ibanez on it? Is it a form fit case inside? Cases are again sign of history with a quality instrument. Thanks again so much for helping others with this perplexing mess that shouldn’t be. Makes me wonder what else is being brought into the country unabated? Oh my. Buyers, take your time, as some patients will prove your future happiness!
