fingerboard inlays questions

ok, if i wanna replace those "dots" inlay with a . . . lesh say tree of life inlay, what should i do? do i need craft the inlay shape into the fingerboard? or there is some "Decals" inlay that i can use :D dun flame me please

Don't worry no one's going to flame you.

Hmmm, I haven't heard about decal inlays, but I think it's possible to replace regular dot inlays with a vine or pyramid inlay. I think that working with offset dots may be a bit of a problem though :). But you may want to hear comments from more experienced individuals from this forum.

I do believe there were some tree of life decals on **** awhile ago. They didn't look as nice as a real vine of course but if you were looking for quick and easy it wouldn't be bad I guess. Go to projectguitar.com they have a lot of good advice about inlays and what you need.
