How do people think they shape up compared to cheap Ibanezes? I tried a friend's ESP LTD M-50 yesterday (agathis body, vintage strat-style trem & bolt-on) and they're surprisingly nice. Not quite as lovely a neck feel but sufficient for my needs, and smooth enough.

I might consider an M-100 when the new models come out in Black Cherry.

Cheap ibanez's are way better, I think most LTDs have painted necks for a reason, you probably wouldn't want to buy it if you saw the wood underneath.

The HZ's are maybe a bit better the cheap iby pups but there is only one HZ model used for bridge and neck so I find the neck pup useless.

It's all about the image that companies are trying to uphold. Cheaply made fenders are branded squires and cheaply made gibson's are branded epiphone. Those companies feel they have an image to uphold so they reserve their brand name for "quality" guitars.
Ibanez doesn't feel the same way obviously.
You don't just see it in the guitar world.
Lexus=Toyota
Acura=Honda
Etc.

It's really just a way to sell to certain markets. No biggie really.
I'd buy an LTD. I don't think I could bring myself to buy one of the agathis-bodied ones though. I do really like the vipers. I plan on getting one someday.

I own an ESP M-II Urban Camo, and it is hands down the best playing guitar I own. I've had people pick it up and play it and comment on how it seems to play itself.

I've played quite a few ESPs and LTDs, and I think LTDs are a great buy for the dollar.

The LTD Deluxe series, you can't go wrong. I'm sure there are some LTDs out there that blow, though.

I was mentioning on another forum how nice that model looked and they were all like 'eww', but to me it looks like a wonderful exception to the rule of me not opting for EMGs or finished necks. If I had the money I'd seriously consider one of them. They look like they really shred.

At the end of the day you get what you pay for.

A ÂŁ300~ÂŁ400 Jackson, Ibanez, Fender, etc are all fairly decent guitars but not as good as ÂŁ2000 custom job.

If your budget doesn't stretch to something more expensive don't worry. A guitar is often as good as it is setup. Find sonething that feels nice and is set up well

my $0.02

Ltd guitars are very good,
i got an V350, and the guitar its lovely. its mahogany body/neck.
the only thing that suck is the tremolo, that trs2 kind, like most "cheap" guitars do.
the wood and paint is flawless.
how do i know the wood?
i had to paint one in the past.
i changed the tremolo for a OFR and the pickups for an emg 81 and 85 and its awesome!
the wood, paint and sound was worth the inversion.

Cheap ESP watch:
Music Uno Dos Tres currently has the ESP F-400FM for $240. This is a $700 guitar. EMG81's, Earvana nut, tune-o-matic, custom inlays, 24 frets.

It's ugly as sin, but for that price, you better jump on it. It's likely a misprint on their website. If I had more than $100 to my name I would so buy one D:

I had a M 200 neck thru black cherry

It was a great guitar when I got it outta the box

then I noticed the little things

their licensed trem is a piece of crap, couldnt stay in tune and the I could not release the string to change a string

flawed design is the outcome

their esp ltd pickups are not great at all not dynamic, very lifeless sounding

I couldnt get a nice sound outta it

on the other hand I have an edwards series guitar

i think its a e-hr and loadsa numbers after it

great dynamic guitar btw its got a quilted top (looks absolutley stunning)
