I am hopeful the come out with some new PIA colors for 2021. It is a great playing guitar, but the color schemes last year weren't my favorite.

I assume that Vai will do some sort of livestream to introduce some sort of new PIA color during the virtual NAMM.

Since you are in Ireland, if you hurry maybe you can still order it from Thomann.

But everyone here know if you want best guitar with THE best setup you have to click on multicolor banner on the right
Everything is gone but some pinks that came off allocation and I picked up.
The problem for me buying from the US, is that we are charged another 21% tax plus duty tax on it. That would bump the price up to over €4000, which is way to much.

I know that most of them, if all are gone. but I make quick check on thomann page before post and they still claiming stock in 1-2 week. But I have no doubt that Rich has more acurate info then Thomann.

I was talking about distributor availability, I'm sure some dealers still have inventory or are awaiting the stragglers.

They pull the same tactic

So now the only color will be white like the white jem lol
Ibanez, like all the other major brands have people whose job it is to work out what sells. If Steve Vai and the commercial guys at Ibanez think white as the only colour option this year is the way to go, then they're probably right.

lol.

goes to show that having a job title doesn't always mean you know what you're doing. They don't listen to what the fans want. If a fan is shelling out almost 4k for guitar, I might as well the most flamboyant and eye-catching I can get. Why would anyone buy the white one, most boring color ever, another white jem out of the millions that exist out there already.

Most people who bought these new PIAs, bought the non white colors. Steve himself mostly plays the green or pink one in videos lol

They always do this, discontinued the fun and colors that most people and leave the boring white one

^^^^^Have to say, our resident troll is correct on this one. Steve’s choice of colors and patterns on recent JEMs and the PIA have left a lot to be desired. He’s great at helping Ibanez design awesome player guitars. But he’s gone south on the art part the past number of years.

The trouble is that listening to claims of ‘what the fans want’ from Internet forums is like listening to politicians on Twitter, you get a very skewed understanding of the situation.

The white JEM sold as a Japanese model, largely unchanged for over 25 years, if it didn’t shift enough units to make production worthwhile they’d have canned it sooner. The PIA is available in white because a) Steve likes it and b) Ibanez think it will sell in large enough numbers to make it worthwhile, based on the concrete information they have on what sells where and how many over the last however many years.

Whilst the Green PIA is arguably the best looking. There’s also 35 years of nostalgia for Vai playing a green guitar with a black scratch plate. Limiting the numbers just makes sure that they will sell every single one of the guitars they make.

If the white one doesn’t sell, they’ll change it, but the change will be based on numbers not hearsay.

Interestingly, there are two completely opposite situations.

One with VAi and more or less the same guitar for a long time and

another with Satriani with the same guitar in different colors

and both situations are working.

Both are working because the numbers say they’re working :)

Ibanez as a Japanese brand have a lot of loyalty to the guys who put them where are but at the same time Japanese companies tend to be sensible, they might have a glory project every so often, but for the most part, it’s doing good business that keeps them in business.

Does anyone know how many Green, Pink and Gold PIAs are suppose to be made?
It's a, "Limited" edition color run, right?

Hopefully 2022 will bring a new color to the PIA besides white.
I'd like to see the inlays match the body color better than pastel Pink and Green.
