Remember, no one starts out good. Everyone sucks for a long, long time and then it starts to hit you and you develop your own style, sound etc.

Who cares if its not perfect, or good, or technically correct. Youre playing to the best of your CURRENT abilities.

my beef would be with the quality of the recordings - it's hard to get a real idea of your accuracy.

what i could tell from the first recording is that you play with a fair amount of feeling, which is no bad thing at all.

Recording has been a trouble spot for me. I am still trying to get the hang of it. Its almost like learning another instrument. I guess I need to spend some time at the recording studio forum to get some pointers =)

I really appreciate you guys taking the time to listen.

thanks!

It definitely is like trying to learn another instrument! It's funny how over time I've sold more studio gear than I've bought... the simpler my studio rig gets, the quicker it is to record, the better things sound. I got in over my head when I started with tons of outboard equipment (compressors, eq's, specialized preamps, FX boxes, etc), most of which is now gone and replaced by some extremely simple preamps.

Anyway, long story short, there's probably lots of folks around here who wouldn't mind giving you some tips around recording gear & technique. I sure know I've asked my fair share of ?'s over the years.

At this point I really want to upgrade to one of those M-Audio usb interfaces thingys. I think that would be the first step in getting a decent sounding set up.
But I dont think I will be able to get into that untill around September.

I will remember to keep it simple. thanks for the advice.

I re-recorded that track called Solstice. The new one is labeled "Solstice Redo 071405".

The orginal was recorded in standard C, this new one was done tuned to standard D. What tuning do you all think sounds best?

its on the same link from above..
