A few days ago, I saw someone hint at a huge Pia announcement to come next week.
Anyone have any info/guess?

I'm guessing a Sustainiac model. I'm hoping it's also fully scalloped, like Steve's own guitars, but I'm less optimistic about that. FYI, these are mere guesses, I have no actual info!

Yeah that would be my guess, or maybe Bonneville swirl related?

35th anniversary update or 7-string is my guess.

No idea. But speculation is fun.
Let's have a floral pattern one.

My guess would be the release of a limited run of Bonneville swirls in the same colour-scheme as the display model at NAMM. It was advertised as a "35th Anniversary model", not a one-off LACS for Steve (although the prototype is a LACS), so it would be odd if they didn't follow through on it.

I am hoping that they bring back a Roadstar II HSS with an Edge on it. But that is just a dream….

Saw something else about it being this week.
My guess is that it’s the 35th edition, there’s been silence on that since NAMM.
I’d love if it was a Sustainiac/Backstop/Scalloped version. That would probably have to be Premium due to cost, like the Satch one. It’s a bit too soon for a Premium Pia, though, don’t you think?

Yes I would love to see the 35th model. As far as a PIA model with Sustainiac, backstop, and scalloping… I say yes I’d love to see Ibanez include a backstop, and I wish they’d find a way to please whatever patent holders they’d have to to bring the backstop back as an available part but I really don’t think that would ever happen sadly. The Sustainiac… I know Steve has said he wished the sound of the pickup could be tweaked more to his liking and that possibly they were working on a Steve Vai version for inclusion in a future Ibanez, so that would be cool. Scallops… I’ve got two PIA’s, one scalloped, one factory. And two JEM’s, one scalloped and one factory. I think that option is best left to the end user, as I would not want every one of my PIA’s scalloped. As far as a PIA Premium, I think the JEM 7VP is filling that spot pretty well. I have one of those as well, and it’s a fine instrument, unfairly compared to other Premium level Ibanez guitars that may feature inferior necks, pickups, or bridges compared to their genuine MIJ brothers and sisters. So I wouldn’t hold my breath on a PIA Premium but who knows!

You just don’t quit, do you? Is it that surprising there are people excited about a new PIA on a forum for JEM/PIA enthusiasts? Do you feel better now that you sh*t all over it, again? I know who you are (and your alt usernames), I’ve never seen you post anything, anywhere that wasn’t talking sh*t. Every guitar tech you’ve ever met is an idiot (while you can’t set up your own guitars), Vai is tacky for naming the PIA after his wife and making it too feminine, Ibanez is a horrible brand because Tim Henson probably got an LACS nylon string while the public gets a $600 one, the AxeFX is too expensive, the PIA is too expensive….every single post I’ve ever seen you make is talking sh*t about someone or something while never putting forward anything you can call your own.

It’s no wonder you need alt usernames to post at certain forums, you’ve got to keep running from all the sh*t you’ve talked previously. That’s highly admirable human behavior and I fart in your general direction.

Last year I sold my guitars and bought an onyx PIA and a sky blue JS2410.

I have nothing against the JS - my first "real" guitar was a JS1 many years ago - but the PIA is where it's at. Depending on the price tag of whatever's coming, the JS may need to find a new home.

That's a fantastic pair of guitars you have there! I agree that an onyx PIA can't be beat, though!
