Well i have installed several pickups and none were ever like this.

Normally there are 2 wires one white and one bare and poof easy just connect it to where the old ones were.

This situation is different.

the OLD pick up was as i said white and bare, then i stripped the x2n wire to see green, black, white, red and bare.

Now i am scratching my head. I was just looking for a simple replacement, is there an easy solution for this?

Please ask for any additional info you need and or pictures. Thanks!

red wire is the hot one, so the one that goes to the selector switch. green and bare are the grounds, so they go on the back of a pot, and solder the black and white wire together, and cover with tape. however, the black and white wires are there for coil splitting, so if you plan on having the pickup so that you can go from series, to split, you use these two wires as well. if you are still confused go to the dimarzio site, and go to high power, go to the x2n option, go to installation, and download the 4conductor pdf. hope this helps
